Lenovo IdeaPad Y580

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 ($1,099 direct) is, quite literally, a big idea. In addition to its large physical frame, it almost completely eliminates the need for a desktop PC, sporting a huge screen, built-in Blu-ray drive, and a full-sized keyboard....

Excellent gaming and multimedia capabilities. Bountiful port selection. Built-in Blu-ray player. Fantastic display. Solid speakers. Full-size keyboard. WiDi

Bulky. Some bloatware. So-so battery life

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is a robust desktop replacement laptop, displaying exceptional gaming and multimedia capabilities while packing a dazzling screen with 1080p resolution, a Blu-ray drive, and even a full-sized keyboard.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 Review

The 15-inch IdeaPad Y580 is a reasonably priced laptop loaded with great multimedia features. Keep reading to find out if it's a better choice than an Ultrabook.

Great casual gaming machine with discrete graphics ; Good battery life ; Blu-Ray optical drive ; Good keyboard and touchpad

Heavy ; Click pad layout takes a bit of getting used to ; No docking socket or wedge battery ; The IdeaPad Y580 is not only a beautifully styled laptop, it also offers great performance in just about every area.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580-20994BU Laptop Review

A Good Idea? The $1000 you'll put down for a Y580 will net you high-end performance from some of the top-end Ivy Bridge and Kepler processors. Is this Lenovo best-seller a must-have for gamers and multimedia users on-the-go?

Excellent CPU and GPU performance, Sleek aesthetics, Great screen quality, Good battery life, Relatively quiet fan, Easy-to-reach ports and HDD/RAM/PCIe slots, Backlit keyboard, The small touches and redesign to the chassis has made the Y580 similar...

Lid and touchpad feel cheaply made on an otherwise sturdy base, Slow HDD performance, mSATA upgrade expensive, High-gloss and reflective display (no matte options), Tight port placement, Poor outdoor usability, The Y580 lacks matte screen and dedicated...

Lenovo Y580 15.6-inch Laptop Review

Final ThoughtsThe idea behind the Y580 and previousY570is an all-in-one laptop that can serve many purposes.  Lenovo took what they did right with the Y570 and improved upon it in many different ways and have put together a very powerful machine in the...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580

Excellent list of high end features for a relatively low price. Great for gaming performance

Visually boring, not particularly thin or light

Though it's not a high style product, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is most definitely a performance machine that offers a great deal of performance and quality hardware for the money. From the good 1080p IPS display to the wicked performance in gaming and...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 review

This updated version of Lenovo's IdeaPad Y580 wasn't available in time for our recent round-up of gaming laptops. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is actually designed as an all-round multimedia and entertainment system rather than as a dedicated gaming machine...

Serious gamers who want the highest frames rates and graphics details all at full-HD resolution will prefer a dedicated gaming laptop that has a more powerful graphics card. However, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 works very well as an all-round multimedia...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580: Powerful - and power hungry, too

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 delivers serious power at a price that won't break the bank. On the other hand, it might break your back, weighing a hefty 6.2 pounds (not including accessories). But for comfort-be-damned power users, the Y580 will be well...

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 stands out as packing a punch while remaining economical. It has the on-the-go power for games, programs, and media. If its short battery life and crushing weight don't dampen your enthusiasm, the IdeaPad Y580 will make you happy.
