Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 Review (Video)

With solid specs and a sturdy design the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 is ideal for users looking for the basics without spending too much.

Portable OneLink Dock ; Good durability ; High quality keyboard

Weak battery life ; Limited Screen Viewing Angles ; Bulky Design

The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 provides an impressive offering for its price. Starting at $500 (NBR’s configuration was priced at $648) users will receive a durable attractive chassis, with excellent usability thanks to Lenovo’s high quality keyboard...

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 Review

The ThinkPad Edge E431 offers the durability and dependability we've come to expect from Lenovo's small business laptops, in a 14-inch system with an excellent keyboard and pointing stick.

Responsive keyboard; Accurate touchpad/pointing stick; Available with Windows 7; Convenient dock

Mediocre viewing angles; Sub-par battery life (with default battery); Slightly heavier than some competitors

The ThinkPad Edge E431 offers the durability and dependability we've come to expect from Lenovo's small business laptops, in a 14-inch system with an excellent keyboard and pointing stick.

Reasonable price, Good performance, Comfortable keyboard, Attractive design, Strong sound system, Excellent Webcam

Short battery life, Buttonless touch pad, Merely passable display

We were somewhat uninspired by last year's Edge models. Their subpar screens, speakers, and Webcams dissuaded us from giving them a wholehearted thumbs-up. After all, as we pointed out last year in our review of the E530, not just consumers use their...

not happy with Lenovo

I was advised by someone else to purchase Lenovo Thinkpad laptops and I will never buy one again. If you decide to purchase one, you better get the longest extended warranty available or better yet, choose a different laptop maker. We have had to wipe...

good when it works

horrible when it doesn't

Rugged business laptop, poor out-of-box performance

Great all-around laptop, but get the 4 or 8gb version, and be sure to cut out all the annoying bloatware.

Durable, rugged, compact design. Looks pretty sleek. Definitely fulfills the requirements for a business machine

Out-of-box performance was embarrassingly inferior. Loaded to the hilt with bloatware. Even after removing all of the bloatware and cutting down to the minimum required startup services and programs, it was still a dog. The culprit, as it turns out, is...

back lit key board would be a plus. and CAP indicator led would be nice

Everything works as it supposed to. Got it on sale for 679.00. i7 2.2 GHz, 7200rpm 500G HDD, Win7 pro ; runs very cool, coolest laptop I have that won't burn my thigh ; sound is very good for its size. Battery life on par with similar laptop ; touch...

back lit key board and CAP indicator led would be a plus ; increase to 8G ram , SSD and 1080 screen would be perfect

Great Notebook

Great Notebook, upgrade the OS and the RAM and you have a nice smaller form factor notebook that's hard to beat.

i5 Chip is zippy ; SSD ; HDMI and VGA connectors ; Touch Screen works well

Non Pro/enterprise OS ; no wireless AC ; only 4GB of RAM = lame

Ordered for a client with a timeline. What a bad experience. Now the fun starts of RMA.

Nice size and weight

Dead hard drive on arrival, removed drive from Lenovo to see if my PC would recognize it, doesn't even show in BIOS. Drive MFG date 17Sept13 meaning either this laptop sat on a shelf for 7 1/2 months or someone stuck this dead drive in it. Laptop boots...

Generally happy with my Lenovo purchases in the past, but this one is a dog. I upgraded from a Celeron 1.6 GHz dual core, expecting much better performance than I got, despite the better CPU and on-board graphics. Pretty slow performance on all counts:...

battery-saver utility in software

slow ; dislike keyboard: function keys not easy to use ; dislike trackpad: no buttons, touch control is not responsive ; proprietary square power-input plug

A great machine!

I purchased this notebook after carefully doing some research. The fact that it's easily upgradable was a huge positive. I also liked that it had Windows 7 Pro pre-installed and gives me the option to install Windows 8 Pro (included).
