Notebookcheck's Best of July 2011

Strong battery life & fast. In July, subnotebooks with an SSD and Core processors prove that battery life, low weight and high application performance aren't contradictions. Even the business bolides, EliteBook and ProBook, took part with at least five...

Review Lenovo ThinkPad L420 NYV4UGE Notebook

Little office worker. According to Lenovo, it's introducing a notebook that is to save time and money with the ThinkPad L420. We're putting the ThinkPad L420 with an Intel Core i5-2520M processor through its paces.

Known ThinkPad case quality, Very good keyboard, Spill-proof, Trackpoint in addition to the touchpad, UMTS built-in/ready, Quiet operation, Matt display, Docking port, The first rate keyboard that Lenovo installs into its ThinkPads is also one of the...

Contrast poor display, Moderate power reserves, No USB 3.0, Lenovo has unfortunately not given the laptop a USB 3.0 port. It would have really been a sensible expansion for the ThinkPad L420

Very good build quality ; Excellent keyboard and touchpad ; Good selection of ports

Average battery life ; Low screen resolution ; Only 1-year warranty standard ; The ThinkPad L420 is a decent small-business laptop with exceptional build quality.

Lenovo Thinkpad L420 and L520 with Sandy Bridge

Lenovo ThinkPad L420 and L520 are two portable solutions dedicated to the professional sector, the framework of an entry-level. However, their technical characteristics make them interesting tools to follow the professional during their daily...

The graphics section can be controlled either by an integrated Intel controller or a dedicated video card Radeon HD 565v. Both laptops will come on the market, along with the ThinkPad W520 , ThinkPad T420 and T520 , the next March 29 at a price not yet...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Best Value

I bought this laptop to add some mobility to my current setup. I upgraded the ram and upgraded to an SSD. I spent less than $450 combined and it has been one of the most solid laptops I've used and by far the best at its price point

The only drawback to this system would be it's small screen size. Being a business solution it is to be expected though

very happy

Windows 7 64 bit pro. 8 gig ram which is twice what was advertised. touchpad is still smooth. overall, a great refurb at a great price

the hardrive is fairly slow, but is totally usable. not worth deducting an egg at this price point. Will probably install a SSD at some point

Very disappointing product - malfunctioning everywhere

Six years ago I bought a Lenovo laptop, X61, top of the range, working perfectly on every aspect. So, when needing a replacement, I bought another Lenovo. But this one was [censored word removed]. The track ball buttons doesn't work properly, the...

Great for Home, office and University usage

Overall experience is just below the Excellent. Not glossy or fancy material but gives a professional or business impression. It would have been nice if Lenovo has provided laptop sleeve/carry case at no extra cost. It was delivered in a cardboard box....

Awesome keyboard, sound system ok; battery is efficient and great finish

slightly heavy, not for latest games and no 13" version in L series
