Review Lenovo Thinkpad T520 Notebook

Timeless. As we've already noticed in the smaller T420, the tested and tried Thinkpad design has practically been left untouched on the outside. However, the new Sandy Bridge hardware will now do its job inside. Moreover, we discover a pro graphics...

Good application performance, Optimus technology, Extensive communication configuration, Pleasant input devices, Keyboard light, Battery options, Display port, sRGB coverage and very good contrast, Known and proven Thinkpad quality

Vertical viewing angles, No USB 3.0, New, well dosed design ideas

Lenovo ThinkPad T520 Review

While it's a bit thick and heavy for a 15-inch laptop, the $1,299 Lenovo ThinkPad T520 offers business users everything they need: good performance, durability, and security. Of course, you also get Lenovo's trademark fantastic keyboard and accurate...

Fast boot time, Great keyboard, High-resolution display, Extra-long battery life

No USB 3.0, Small touchpad, Bulky design

Lenovo ThinkPad T520 Review

Certain notebooks gain a reputation over the years, be it good or bad. The Lenovo ThinkPad-series has been one of those families that has grown for almost 20 years, while still retaining the namesake of being one of the best business notebooks money...

mSATA SSD Compatible and SATA 6.0Gbps speeds; Comfortable keyboard and excellent touchpad; Very good battery life

No eSATA or USB 3.0 connections (eSATA included on T520 with discrete graphics)

The Lenovo ThinkPad T520 has plenty to offer for a wide range buyers. If shopping on a tight budget, a base configuration with integrated graphics and a WXGA resolution screen starts at only $819. For enthusiast buyers with performance in mind, NVIDIA...

Lenovo ThinkPad T520i

Lenovo updates its ThinkPad T Series, and the result is a very solid business laptop

A typical ThinkPad: well built, with excellent design and a fair price, even if the internals aren't quite so impressive

The noble ThinkPad T520 brought low by Joy Systems (refurbisher)

When I eventually contacted Joy System for hard ware support (power / battery issues below) they asked for their own Joy System serial number, which was printed on a simple paper label affixed to the bottom of the T520. After some time of very light...

The T520, as designed and manufactured by Lenovo, is a great laptop, even a several years old.

1) I did not notice until too late to return or claim that the network cable LAN port was broken, incapable of a network cable locking into place 2) The "refurbished" T520 was shipped withcheap, off brand (non-Lenovo) battery (not fully compatible) and...

Useless

Decent size and comfort and speed at the pricepoint

Batter dies in 30 minute. Makes it a pretty useless device.

It's a reasonable machine, and decent mix of components for the money, but a missing hard drive caddy meant extra parts before it could be considered

The missing part is small and inexpensive enough that it is not a big deal, but I would have preferred not to have had to go through the trouble of finding another one to make the machine usable.

Decent performance for the price point, including RAM and HDD.

HDD was installed without hard drive caddy, which meant it would come lose when the laptop was moved.

T530 Thinkpad

Looked brand new. Not like a refurbished unit/

For a refurbished unit it is excellent. Would highly recommend. Have installed windows 10 and it runs great.

Had 2 different memory modules installed. One was 1066 and one was 1600. This caused the system to revert to the slower speed. Was 8 gb as advertised just different speeds. Changed out the 1066 to 1600 and now it is good to go. The average user...

A sweet deal

You seriously can't get a better laptop for this price.

6GB of RAM, an SSD, a 15.6" screen, and an i5 for ONLY $313?! That is an unbelievable steal for this Thinkpad. The keyboard is great, and so is the touchpad. This thing literally boots into Windows 10 in two seconds.

The only con I can think of is that it gets a bit hot near the cpu fan, which is to be expected. It's nothing too bad though. There's not much in the way of a warranty, so I guess that's worth considering if you're scared of refurbs.

Use one for work, just fantastic

Light, durable, fast, slick. What more do you want in a laptop?

Decent screen, incredible battery life, decent amount of USB ports. I use this for work, as my main machine. I'm a network admin and have to run between datacenters, and it seems to have no issues whatsoever with being mobile and shunted into a cheap...

Runs a bit hot, doesn't have a mic jack (fine if you use a USB headset)
