Lenovo T61 review:

Unless you put them side by side, you'd be hard-pressed to spot the physical differences between the two new Centrino laptops from Lenovo, the ThinkPad T61 and the ThinkPad R61 . Both 14-inch models include all the important parts of Intel's revamped...

Internal roll cage protects LCD; 802.11n Wi-Fi for faster wireless throughput; very small A/C adaptor adds little to overall travel weight; Intel's Active Management Technology provides remote support.

New Centrino technology doesn't offer outsize performance gains.

Lenovo's 14-inch ThinkPad T61 shaves a few millimeters off the company's more mainstream R-series laptops, but still boasts the same, solid ThinkPad DNA along with IT-friendly features by way of Intel's new Centrino Pro platform.

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen

The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen, built for the Centrino Duo platform, gets the absolute best out of Intel's new chipset.

Fastest Intel components available. Excellent performance scores. Very good 3D scores. Fast hard drive. EV-DO antenna is now hidden. Fabulous keyboard and dual pointing devices. Lightweight chassis.

Batteries are not compatible with previous T60s. You'll need to upgrade the battery.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen is the best business laptop for those who love widescreens. A standard-screen model will be available with the same powerful Centrino Duo components.

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 14.1-inch Review

Standard aspect ratio business notebooks are becoming more difficult to purchase these days from different manufacturers, but Lenovo has pulled through for another generation with the ThinkPad T61. The 14" 4:3 T61 is one of the last models of its kind...

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 14.1" (4:3) Review

The Lenovo T61 4:3 14.1" notebook is offered with a wide array of options, with processors spanning from the Intel T7100 to the T7800, ram up to 4GB, hard drive up to 200GB, Intel turbo memory, Intel Wireless-N, and either the 128MB nVidia NVS 140M or...

Runs very cool ; Fan doesn't come on as much as previous models ; Excellent performance ; Great keyboard, touchpad, and touchpoint

Screen has limited contrast

The 9-cell battery on the T61 got just over 4 hours and 30 minutes in testing, with screen brightness at 80%, CPU set to adaptive, and with light internet activity. This was a bit less battery life compared to my 15" T60 running XP, but the key...

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Review

The ThinkPad T61 is a premium product with a durable build, it is geared towards business users or simply those willing to pay a bit more to get something that won't fall apart after 1-year of use. For somebody that travels a lot or relies on their...

Excellent build quality, magnesium internal cage in lid and body provide extra protection ; Keyboard is highly usable, one of the best in the industry ; System runs cool, even though it now has more powerful processor ; FireWire and media card reader...

Screen brightness is lacking, in strong lighting situations screen appears washed out ; Would rather not have the Windows Live toolbar built-in ; T61 is thicker than the ThinkPad T60 and T43 notebooks ; Screen is not centered

Most of that software is useful, especially the ThinkVantage related applications, they’re very mature software tools that make things like backing up data, managing your system settings and configuring the notebook easy to do.  Picasa is actually nice...
