One of the best netbooks available

By kandimba (cnet.com) Read the full review

I had to order this from the US, they're very hard to find, but it was worth it. I have 8h of battery (with a 9 cell battery) and great performance. Linux Mint works perfectly... What else could I wish for?

Large battery time, good screen, great performance

MSI Wind U100 Review

By Nick Mokey (digitaltrends.com)

Award: EDITORS' CHOICE

For the moment, MSI's Wind definitively blows away the competition.

Bright and spacious 10-inch screen; lightweight and portable; powerful

Three-cell battery may be inadequate; build quality could be a tad better

Grown-Up Mini Packs More Than Your Tween's Laptop

By Roger Hibbert (wired.com)

HP 2133 Mini-Note PC $749 Roomy keyboard and nice looks, but too expensive, hot to the touch, and loud. Asus Eee PC 901 $599 Formerly innovative Eee PC

Grown-up looks (as opposed to “day care” or “developing-country villager”). Largest screen among minis. Includes three USB ports, a VGA monitor connector and an SD slot

Lack of DVD is understandable, but it still makes us cry. Hard drive emits mysterious sounds. Two-hour battery life is just OK

Wind U100

By Darren Gladstone (pcworld.com)

MSI's Wind NB U100 is one of the first Intel Atom-based mini-notebooks to appear. And like the Acer's Aspire One, it gives a clear idea of what the bargain-priced CPU can handle. Other components include 1GB of RAM, an 80GB 2.5-inch hard drive, and...

Reasonably Bright 10-inch display Hardy construction

Not much in the way of extra software Not much in the way of extra software

There are some solid reasons to consider MSI's Wind. It's small and fairly light (about 2.6 pounds), and it's sturdy enough to take a beating. But other solidly-built mini-notebooks are just around the corner, including Lenovo's S10 and probably an...

The Wind is roughly the size of a super-small ultraportable laptop, like Lenovo's IdeaPad U110, but mini-notebooks and ultraportables by no means overlap in price or performance.

MSI Wind U100-053LA (black, Windows XP) review

By Matthew Elliott (cnet.com)

Strikes optimal Netbook balance between portability and usability ; polished look ; fair price

Wimpy three-cell battery is only option at the moment ; no 802.11n Wi-Fi or WWAN ; no option for solid-state hard drive

The MSI Wind U100 makes a positive first impression with its polished design and roomy (for a Netbook) display and keyboard, but it's missing a handful of features--bigger battery, solid-state hard drive, and WWAN--that would turn it from a very good...

MSI Wind U100

By Joanna Stern (laptopmag.com)

Award: Editor's Choice!

The 10-inch MSI Wind mini-notebook has good computing punch and impressive endurance.

Relatively big 10-inch screen ; Fast boot time ; Long battery life ; Comfortable keyboard ; One-touch TurboDrive CPU overclocking

Single-bar mouse button ; Below-average wireless throughput ; Limited tech-support hours and not toll-free

In order to achieve their diminutive size, weight, and price, most mini-notebooks come with compromises: the screen or keyboard is too small, the processor is too slow, or the battery life is too short. That’s why the MSI Wind U100 is a breath of fresh...

This 2.6-pound system boasts a relatively large 10-inch screen and a full-size keyboard and Intel's zippy new 1.6-GHz Atom processor (overclockable with a touch of a button). Plus, the MSI Wind NB lasts more than 5 hours on a charge

So go for it if you will use it in the office or at home but it clearly cannot be used as a travel companion.

MSI Wind U100

By Nathan Edwards (maximumpc.com)

MSI has been moving into the notebook market in a big way over the past few years, with forays into business and gaming notebooks, and, this summer, netbooks, with the Wind U100. We have to say, we're impressed. Read on for the rest of the review!

Wider keyboard than most NetBooks

Larger notebook, need to spend a bit extra for the 6-cell battery

The corner hinges on the Wind are not quite as sturdy as the Eee PC's barrel hinge or the Aspire One's, but it's still solid. The matte screen is quite bright under AC power and readable at even 25 percent backlighting

MSI Wind U100 Netbook

By Michael Lin (hothardware.com)

Immediately after ASUS launched the Eee PC into an unsuspecting notebook market over a year ago, the short term answer from competitors was, well, nothing, save perhaps for the XO-1 from the OLPC organization. At the time, there was still speculation...

High Build Quality ; Very Portable ; Automated Overclocking ; Bright 10.2" LED Backlit Screen ; Small A/C Adapter

Cramped Sentilic Touchpad ; Annoying Touchpad Buttons

MSI has also released a cheaper 8.9" version of the Wind, the U90, which is currently available in parts of Europe, Australia and Canada. However, at least for the time being, the original MSI Wind, now dubbed the Wind U100, is still the only MSI...

Manufacturer's Description

The U100 has selected a 10" wide LCD display as oppose to the typical smaller sizes to provide better comfort while viewing or reading. In addition, the 1024x 600 resolution can relief concerns of the full display of WebPages while browsing, giving you the freedom when exploring the internet. The U100 is embedded with the LED power-saving backlight technology in providing better color fullness and brightness, elevating the total quality of imagery. Furthermore, the lower usage of power can offer a longer operating time. The U100 is equipped with the capability of magnifying text within software, so you may magnify any of the words displayed on the monitor freely, making it easier when you are viewing photos, editing or reading documents. It is only 19-31.5 mm in thickness making it extremely thin. The total weight added with the battery is not more than 1 kilogram, making the U100 very ideal for taking it on the go. The keyboard of the U100 not only has great texture, it also increased the space between the keys to 17.5 mm, allowing you to be as comfortable as you can. Plus, ingeniously designed spacebar and touchpad, so your fingers can move smoothly while avoiding strain. The U100 operates without the worries of not having enough memory capacity to record the greatest moments in life. The notebook is equipped with high resolution webcam, high-performance 2 channel stereo speakers, and microphone, all fitted perfectly within the framework design, expressing the slickness of technology and the elegance of modern fashion. Web-chats can be broadcasted instantly not missing one exciting moment. The photos taken is very sharp in resolution and brilliant in colors, capturing precise imagery both indoor or out, adding more fun to instant messaging. U100 offers a complete entertainment interface, which includes the 4 in 1 Card Reader (applicable to SD. MMC, MS, and MS Pro), so it may meet the standards of the mainstream memory cards, making it easy to upload digital files into the notebook computer. The long-lasting battery life can escalate the mobility and the productiveness of the U100, which can also make your daily lives much more convenient.
