Review MSI Wind U135 Netbook

UpWind? The Wind models were counted to the pioneers of the unyie

Attractive design; Very good case stability; User-friendly keyboard; Very good viewing angle stability; Low case temperatures; Low price

Case susceptible for grime; Center of gravity too far back; Average VGA connection quality; Reflective display; Perpetual fan presence; Speakers' poor sound quality

As already so often: older netbooks with Intel's Atom N27/N280 processors and GMA 950 graphics. A current immediate opponent in terms of both looks and configuration, as well as the price: Asus Eee 1005p.

MSI's latest netbook impresses us with a quality keyboard.

Excellent keyboard, Acceptable battery life, Some designs are quite striking

One button touch-pad, Black version looks pretty ordinary, Some system instability issues

MSI Wind U135 Review

The Wind U135 is the one of the newest netbooks from MSI in the 10-inch form-factor. Packed with the Intel Pine Trail platform this netbook promises increased battery life and performance compared to models still using the previous Intel Atom chipset....

Good design ; Capable touchpad with proper drivers ; Nice keyboard

Half the battery life of other Pine Trail netbooks ; Missing touchpad software out of the box

Speaker performance is average compared to most netbooks on the market, meaning that they lacked volume and any hint of bass compared to a full-size notebook. For most users the speakers are great if you want to watch a quick streaming video clip or...

MSI Wind U135 Review

The MSI Wind U135 looks and performs well for a netbook, keeping pace with its competitors. Its price of $329 also makes it less expensive than the ASUS 1005PE ($379) and even the budget conscious Samsung N130 ($349). However, battery life takes a step...

Comfortable keyboard, Mutltiple color options, Bright display with good viewing angles, Low price

Shorter battery life than competition, Narrow, mushy touchpad button, Long boot time, Fan a bit loud

Low price, Comfortable keyboard, Mutltiple color options, Bright display with good viewing angles, Low price

Shorter battery life than competition, Narrow, mushy touchpad button, Long boot time, Fan a bit loud

The U135 kept its cool, something nice to see (and feel) on a device this small. After playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, both the touchpad and the space between the G and H keys only reached 88 degrees, and the middle of the bottom...

MSI U135 Mini Laptop Review

Affordable netbooks cannot get any cheaper than the MSI range of mini laptops. The new MSI U135 is a 10 inch laptop that replaces their older 10' inch laptop series. Though the dimension remain the same, the newest features include an Intel's Atom N450...

Ugly Design ; Low Resolution

But the computer isn't without its issues. There are no access panels for upgrading the RAM or hard drive, and the touchpad lacks support for multitouch gestures

MSI Wind U135

With the number of MSI Wind netbooks coming out this year, it's a bit hard to track down which model is which. Just in the 10-inch category, there's the U160, the U130 and then this Wind U135.

MSI Wind U135

Built around Intel's latest Atom platform, this budget netbook performs similarly to its competition, though the battery life is shorter. (On the plus side, though, its keyboard is sturdier.)

Sturdy, attractive design; excellent keyboard; competitive price; includes child-friendly Web browser

Single mouse button; slow boot time; mediocre Webcam; short-range Wi-Fi radio

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

MSI Wind U135 Netbook Review

We have been fans of MSI's Wind series of netbooks. They have consistently rivaled Asus' Eee PC range and HP's Mini line, and the competition has been good for the industry. MSI's Wind line has remained relatively consistent over the years, with the...

Nice Overall Design ; Great Value At $315 ; Nice Chiclet Keyboard ; Great Battery Life ; Ultra Quiet And Cool ; HD Playback Support ; Atom N450 CPU

Glossy Display ; Only 1GB of RAM ; No Optical Drive ; No Multi-Touch Trackpad ; Only A 5400RPM HDD ; No USB 3.0 Ports

In our SiSoftware Sandra tests, the MSI Wind U135 put up decent scores, largely thanks to the new Atom N450 and more advanced GMA 3150 GPU. Both of these are at the top of the class in the netbook realm (for now, anyway). The 5400RPM hard drive held...
