Good Machine

 

For the price I wouldnt hesitate to buy another if I needed it.

Works great! Does what we need it to do to help run our small business. Burns CDs/DVDs great, nice bright screen, and relatively fast

Not crazy about the Window Vista or the junk software preloaded

Most Excellent Laptop

 

Reinstalling vista from the recovery dvd and using the gateway recovery center from the recovery partition on the hard drive will give you a clean install

Fast and tidy laptop ! Worth every penny ! Scored a 3.2 in Windows Vista Experience Index ! I am very impressed with it and I can't recommend it enough ! If you are looking for the best bang for the buck... well this is it

Wonderful to Get Great Product

 

Would buy from NEWEGG.com AGAIN

Exactly as promised and delivered in short order. Fast and stable! A Great price for a NEW not REFURBISHED Machine. I was on my home wireless in just a few minutes

Vista is not compatible with all kinds of software. I had to spend about 1.5 Hrs. removing and defraging my Hard Drive of all the trial software. To remove all the extra non needed programs it shipped with was a litle tricky but not to hard

Excellent Laptop

 

Haven't tried XP, but everything works great under Vista. Does come with lots of bloatware installed.

Sharp, bright screen; plenty of ram & disk space; dual layer DVD burner; battery lasts about 3 1/2 hours per charge

RTL8187B wireless chipset. If you want to use a wireless connection under Linux this will give you problems. Tried several distros with no success. Was finally able to get it to work *intermittently* with Windows 98 drivers under Ndiswrapper - XP...

All-in-All this Laptop is great for the price with everything it came with. I would highly recommend this Laptop. Once again GO NEWEGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good laptop for the price

 

newegg shipping, great as always - Ordered on late friday, delivered on tuesday! Thanks newegg!

Nicely put together box for 513 shipped!!! Ubuntu runs on it, without any real problems (well, the mic does not work). While this is not a gaming laptop, it is more than adequate for everyday use

It is do-able

 

Use everest to get a listing of the internal hardware. The audio is the biggest pain by far. You must install the hotfix (for SP2 and/or SP3) KB888111 first, then install the sigmatel audio drivers that gateway has listed for a different laptop....

My second review. Just want to mention that I did eventually find all the drivers and get this converted to XP PRO. Its a champ now
