Panasonic Toughbook CF-52

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 packs impressive battery life and media friendly features into its super-protective shell.

Outstanding battery life. Tough-as-nails exterior. Briefcase handle. Port covers lining all sides. Latch-removable hard drive and optical drive

Optional features can price many consumers out

If you thought Toughbooks were aimed only at military personnel and service professionals, the performance and media features on the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 might have you thinking differently.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 review:

Ruggedized laptops have a lot in common with the Hummer business model. They started out as strictly utilitarian machines built for heavy industrial use, but over time, the general public became enamored with the tough-as-nails design, and more...

Built-in handle; doesn't skimp on connections; includes wireless broadband and 802.11n; extremely sturdy.

Bulky and heavy; vulnerable optical drive; not configurable.

If you need a laptop that can withstand a lot of abuse without spending a fortune on an all-out fully rugged model, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 offers ample peace of mind plus the latest Centrino Duo components.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-52

A semi-rugged notebook for the semi-rugged individual.

Resistant to accidental spills and can survive infrequent drops and bumps, PC Card and ExpressCard/54 slots, long battery life

DVD burner vibrated noticeably, handle makes the notebook bulky

For demanding users who tend to miss their mouth while they sip, or for anyone who is always using their notebook on the road, the semi-rugged Toughbook CF-52 is a worthy proposition. But it won't withstand everything you throw at it.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-52

Talk about long shelf life. In a world where notebook models are outdated and replaced within 12 months, it's refreshing to see something with true staying power - the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52

This particular model has been around for about four years now and, except for updated internals, looks all but identical now to the way it did way back in the dusts of time (that's 2005 in notebook years). In fact, the model we're reviewing here has...

Panasonic ToughBook CF52

The CF52 is a tough number to crack - and so it should be with a £1,000+ price tag.

The screen uses all the space it possible can and the keyboard is quite nice. The space bare and enter button could both be slightly bigger but once you get used to it, it isn’t bad at all. For those who are accident prone the entire keyboard area and...

It might be resistant but it is also heavy and large, not a good combination. It measures in at 356mm x 52mm x 287mm and it weighs in at a huge 3.3kg. This definitely will help build your muscles

Overall, well it does what it says on the label but its battery life doesn’t stack up, and quite frankly if you’re not near a plug socket then you won’t be using this laptop for long. It is also an extremely difficult laptop to carry around and a bit...
