Want a thin and light notebook that really is thin and light - and really is a notebook, rather than a netbook with a larger keyboard and screen? With a 13-inch screen and a Core i5 processor in a fingerprint-proof chassis that's less than 20mm thick...

Few thin and light notebooks are this powerful, with a full Core i5 and decent battery life in a small and sturdy package

There's not much wrong with the keyboard, screen, touchpad and port layout but they don't really shine either

Asus has already given the U36J a slight bump in spec, from the Core i5 460M to the 480M (and from 3GB to 4GB of memory). That's not the same as upgrading it to a second generation Sandy Bridge processor but so far those are showing up in 15-inch...

ASUS has been churning out some good netbooks and laptops. And today, we have the U36J Notebook for review.

ASUS has priced the U36J at Rs. 56,699 which certainly is on the expensive side. If you're not too bothered about weight and wouldn't mind a slightly lower-performing notebook, you can go for the ASUS K42JA. Somehow, if you still seem to be uncovinced...
