Samsung Ativ Book 9 ( 2014 Edition)

Samsung's Ativ Book 9 (2014 Edition) certainly looks and feels the part of a premium ultrabook.

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition is an attractive aluminum-clad 15.6-inch laptop made for mobility with a body that's less than 4.5 pounds, barely more than 0.5 inch thick, and all-day battery life. Its backlit keyboard and large touchpad are...

Given its $1,500 price, you may be disappointed by its lack of discrete graphics and smallish 128GB solid-state drive for storage.

A big-screen ultrabook with a long, long battery life, the Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition delivers a high-end laptop experience for its premium price.

The audiophile features are no gimmick, but do they justify the price tag?

Excellent build quality ; Very high-quality audio subsystem ; Every I/O port you could want

Crappy audio software undermines the benefit of the audio hardware ; Skimps on memory and storage

Samsung's ATIV Book 9 is an exquisitely designed laptop with an unusually high-quality audio subsystem, but it's also very expensive.

Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition should be on your short list if you want a premium, long-lasting ultrabook, but don't need a higher-than-HD display.

Slimmer, lighter design and larger display than previous iteration. Premium materials. Fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor and 128GB solid-state drive keep things speedy. All-day battery life. Full-size HDMI port. Sound technology geared toward...

Full HD rather than Quad HD+ display on previous model. Dongles required for VGA and Ethernet. Slightly higher price than previous iteration

Samsung knows a thing or two about making top-notch ultraportables and ultrabooks, and the new Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition ($1,499.99 as tested) shows that it's still one of the best in the category. The follow-up to the top-rated Samsung Ativ Book 9...

Samsung ATIV Book 9 (2014)

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 (2014 Edition) crams a 15-inch touch screen into a slim and elegant design with a long-lasting battery.

Thin and attractive design; Colorful screen; Long battery life; Loud clear audio

Pricey; Limited graphics power

Samsung ATIV Book 9 (2014) review

Samsung's ATIV Book 9 was among the PC industry's first responses to the Apple MacBook Air. Light, thin and thoroughly professional, the system emulated the Air well, but also suffered from many of its drawbacks, including limited performance, and an...

Extremely thin and light ; Bright, beautiful 1080p display ; Strong speakers ; Comfortable keyboard ; Long battery life

Chassis could be stronger ; Very lackluster performance for the price ; Similarly equipped competitors are much less expensive

Brilliantly engineered, the ATIV Book 9 is hampered by a CPU that can be found in systems that sell for a third of Samsung’s $1,499 MSRP.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition review: big screen, even bigger price

So many Ultrabooks in our laptop buyer's guide: Not one with a 15-inch screen. Which is strange, because it seemed for a while that bigger-screen

Best-in-class audio quality ; Thin and light for a 15-inch laptop ; Long battery life ; Comfortable keyboard and trackpad ; One of the few 15-inch Ultrabooks available

Expensive, even for a flagship Ultrabook ; Screen isn't as sharp as what you'll find on competing 13-inch Ultrabooks ; You could enjoy the same performance on a much cheaper machine

The ATIV Book 9 Edition is one of the only 15-inch Ultrabooks available right now, and it's a fine product indeed, with long battery life, a thin and light design and unmatched audio quality. It's expensive for what it is, though, particularly...

Samsung ATIV Book 9 (2014 Edition) review: This laptop sounds as gorgeous as it looks

Based on the way most laptops sound, I'd venture a guess that audio is the last thing engineers think about when they design laptops. In fact, I'd go one step further to speculate that marketing efforts drive most laptop builders' decisions to...

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 is one of the sexiest laptops to come through the Lab this year, but it's expensive for the processing power, memory, storage, and video resolution it has to offer. If you're passionate about high-quality audio, this laptop's...

Best laptop I ever used.

Like I wrote earlier, I've used many different Windows XP/7/8 laptops in past 13 years and none of them have even come close to this one. Get this if you can afford it - you won't regret it.

Fast, battery life, touchscreen. Touchpad is the best one I ever used - I've used many different laptops (I work in a computer repair shop). I also have a Mac Book Pro right next to it and I prefer the Samsung's touchpad by far. It's that good. Ultra...

Samsung ATIV Book 9

This is a preliminary report on my experiences with this product. I will be following up as time goes by. Having owned this laptop for just a few days, I would say that, so far, I am very pleased with my purchase. I predict that it will only get better...

Great cooling (ventilation) system...NO BOTTOM VENTS ; Solidly built with impressive looks ; Great display, considering that has a glossy (touch) screen

Glossy screen ; Finicky touch pad when it comes to two-finger scrolling ; Also, touch pad (?) jumps to incorrect conclusions about what I am about to do (select). However, I think this is a problem with Win8.1 and its "predictive" tendencies ; SSD...
