Notebookcheck's Best of September 2012

Opposites. Is a 1500 Euros (~$1956) Ultrabook too pricy? So a Vaio for 2400 Euros (~$3131) would be even further out of your range? What about an AMD netbook for 250 Euros (~$326)? Too cheap? Do you feel the same way about a ThinkPad for 350 Euros...

A different platform, yet the interior life is almost identical. The input is almost identical to the professional ThinkPad E125

Review Samsung Series 5 535U3C Notebook

Affordably good. Samsung's Series 5 13-inch laptops do not only f

Quite a few interfaces; Light, portable and stylish; Very bright and matte screen; Quiet and restrained system noise; Good price/performance ratio

Casing's partly moderate stability; Cramped ports; Teetering keyboard; Comparatively weak computing power; Contrast weak and viewing angle dependent screen; Fairly high power consumption in load

Primarily Samsung's Intel versions 530U3C-A01DE from the same series.

Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C Review: AMD Takes on Intel's Ultrabook

It's only 0.7 inch thick, and it weighs just 3.35 pounds (3.8 pounds with power block), but the 13.3-inch Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C doesn't qualify as an Ultrabook. The reason? "Ultrabook" is a trademark belonging to Intel--and the Series 5 NP535U3C...

Good GPU performance ; Good speakers for an ultrabook

Mediocre battery life ; Unimpressive overall performance

AMD-powered ultraportable laptop is as thin and light as an Ultrabook, but can't match the performance of its Intel-based rivals.

Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A01US

The Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A01US looks like an ultrabook, feels like an ultrabook, and will be sold alongside ultrabooks, but don't be fooled. Although there are plenty of superficial similarities, the Series 5 NP535U3C is built around an AMD...

Bargain price. Slim, light design. Full-size HDMI port. Matte-finish display

Poor performance. Short battery life. Awkward card reader

The Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A01US gives you the portability of an ultrabook at a lower price, but compromises on performance.

Samsung Series 5 13.3" Touch Screen Intel Core i5/8GB/128GB SSD Ultrabook Review (NP540U3C-A01CA)

The Samsung Series 5 13.3" Touch screen Ultrabook (NP540U3C-A01CA) I am reviewing today arrived to ModSynergy without any issues directly from Samsung. The first time you see the box it comes in, you really notice there is nothing plain about it....

Apparently I've stated that there are quite a few faults with the Ultrabook, but at the same time, it didn't have anything catastrophically wrong that compromised the experience, other than the poor performing SanDisk U100 Solid State Drive it came...

Samsung NP535U3C-A02UK review

Samsung's NP535U3C-A02UK comes up short in performance

Decent performance ; Improved Fusion graphics performance ; Capacious HDD ; Nice keyboard

Battery life when pushed ; Performance doesn't match Intel based machines ; No number pad

Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A02UK review

The Samsung Series 5 notebook is not, it must be said, the most original range of laptops. We looked at the 13.3in-screen version, and its smooth curves and metallic-grey finish are clearly inspired by Apple's MacBook Air.

Producing an ultra-portable laptop that costs less than £500 inevitably involves some compromises, and the 13in Samsung Series 5 won’t win any awards for performance or battery life. Even so, it’ll handle most routine computing tasks perfectly well and...

Samsung Series 5 535U3C

A slim, sleek Ultrabook rival at a low price thanks to AMD innards.

Affordable ; Sleek, slim and attractive ; Decent matt screen ; Good speakers ; Upgradeable

Average battery life ; Mediocre performance

On the audio side of things the Series 5 535U3C holds up well too. Though they’re short on bass and suffer from the occasional bit of distortion, this ultraportable’s stereo efforts produce audio that’s loud, has a sense of depth, and decent clarity at...

It's only 14.9mm thick, and it weighs just 1.5kg, but the 13.3-inch Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C doesn't qualify as an Ultrabook. The reason? "Ultrabook" is a trademark belonging to Intel - and the Series 5 NP535U3C doesn't use an Intel processor....

You shouldn't write off the Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C just because it has an AMD processor instead of an Intel processor. Though Intel's Ultrabooks may outperform the AMD Series 5 overall, the Series 5's integrated Radeon HD 7500G graphics are slightly...

Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C Review

Ultrabook-baiting dimensions for under £500, but slightly disappointing processor performance

When is an Ultrabook not an Ultrabook? When it’s Samsung’s latest Series 5 NP535U3C, of course. Because although this shares the same, shape, name and materials of construction as the Series 5 Ultrab
