Review Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z7C Notebook

Compact 17-incher; Well marksmanship; Long battery runtime; Big touchpad; Handy power supply; Low noise; Fast HDD; Well gaming performance; Good contrasts; Short boot sequence; Keyboard illumination; Effortless keyboard; Slot-In drive; Clear sound with...

Few connectors; Only RAM accessible; Bendable lid; ClickPad: Little keystroke; Throttling - 90 Watt power supply overchallenged

Customers whose primary criterion is a high-quality Full HD display and appreciate precise manufacturing should give the Chronos 17 series a closer look while simultaneously steering clear of the Chronos 15 series from 2011.

Samsung 17-inch Series 7 Chronos (NP700Z7C-S01US)

The Samsung 17-inch Series 7 Chronos (NP700Z7C-S01US) ($1,449.99 list) desktop replacement laptop is just a tad large for most people's laps. It is meant for the graphics power user, with a quad-core processor, enthusiast-level 3D graphics, and a large...

Over six hours hours battery life. Good 3D performance. Quad-core Intel processor. Matte screen. Dual-band Wi-Fi. Numeric keypad

Subwoofer distorts at loud volume. Annoying on-screen shelf tag. No Blu-ray

The Samsung 17-inch Series 7 Chronos (NP700Z7C-S01US) desktop replacement laptop has a lot going for it and a decent amount of power. But bloatware and a few other missteps keep it from gaining our highest honors.

Samsung Series 7 NP700Z7C Review

We recently posted our first look at Dell's new XPS 15, a Windows-focused laptop that took more than a few design elements of the standard MacBook Pro 15. While there was plenty to like with the design and features, we're still waiting for a final BIOS...

For the second straight laptop review, what started out as a system with a lot of promise ends up falling short of my expectations. For many users, the Samsung Series 7 will work very well, but enthusiasts or other folks that tend to push their...

Samsung 700Z7CH review: Samsung 700Z7CH

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos stands out from the desktop replacement crowd by hiding high-end components, including a quad-core processor, inside a very a slim design.

Gaming performance could be better and the bottom panel can get very hot.

A high-end big-screen multimedia laptop that's pretty portable (for a desktop replacement), the Samsung Series 7 Chronos is what we imagine a 17-inch ultrabook would look like.

Not Good

Graphics are excellent

One week out of the box, the mouse pad started to lock up. Sent PC back and was sent a different model. Took 3 weeks for total turnaround. Now I am fighting bluetooth issues. General tech support solution is to reinstall everything from the beginning....

Best Laptop I've Owned

Also, my interpretation of the warranty is that you can open the case as long as you do not damage anything, so replacing the HDD with a SSD would not in itself void the warranty.

Boots windows in 25 seconds ; The speakers sound amazing, not to mention the speaker volume is much higher than most laptops I have dealt with ; Lighter than a desktop replacement laptop, yet packing roughly the same computing power ; Video card is a...

Not a real issue, just something to watch out for ; Ethernet jack does not snap with connectors due to the hinge design (have to play with the connector to get connectivity)

Great Laptop

Future plans are an SSD drive, move the primary drive to the DVD bay and ditch the optical drive. This will make the unit the perfect laptop.

I opened the box and found a wonderful looking laptop. This is their business variant that gets the 7200 RPM drive and Win 7 Pro. Boot time is great with the express cache, CPU's in perf mon seem like they dont have to work to get tasks done. The unit...

Needs an SSD for absoute performance. You can take the case apart but it voids your warranty. There is also a 2nd hard drive option for the Series 7 that takes over the DVD bay. You can find the caddy out there if you search

Nice choice

best laptop I have bought...Only thing I would like is blu-ray. only bottle neck is hard drive speed of this thing, however 1TB dose ease it a little. This thing should be the last laptop I get for a while.

Great gaming computer

I was looking for a pc that was beefy enough to run statistical software and had a high end graphics card so I could play SWTOR when on the road. This machine really delivers. The monitor is incredibly crisp with brilliant images, great responsiveness,...

Almost a Great Laptop

Was spec'd as a silver colored case. Dark gun metal gray at best. Not what I expected or wanted. The HDD is pit-a-ful. You're deciding to build a great machine at Samsung and after putting in great components someone forgets to put in a fast hybrid...
