Review Samsung P580 Pro Penfield Notebook

Silent office. This 15.6-inch notebook from Samsung sets out to b ...

Very quiet and cool ; Keys give good tactile feedback ; Matt, durable surfaces ; Docking port and eSATA ; Low energy consumption ; Fast hard drive ; Good performance

Poor screen brightness ; Weak contrast ratio ; Battery life only adequate ; Weak, thin sound from the speakers

That a sober and slightly flawed notebook like this could still excite our enthusiasm

Review: Samsung's P580 Notebook

The CRN Test Center examines Samsung's P580 notebook for business.

However, overall, Samsung's design, attention to detail in its engineering, performance and the wonderful look and feel make the P580 notebook a great one, and one we recommend.

Samsung P580 laptop review

Samsung P580 laptop has been designed to be the perfect ‘trusted business partners' for individuals who need the reassurance and performance of a powerful desktop PC, packaged in a highly durable, tactile, sleek and lightweight chassis that makes...

The 15.6in, 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution screen of Samsung P580 laptop was bright and clear – and importantly blessed with a matte, anti-glare finish – and ergonomics seemed good. Samsung P580’s keyboard boasts the isolated design that is currently...

I bought this as a traveling, do everything PC for business, it's perfect in that role. The screen isn't the best for movies nor games (it's particularly bright or contrasty) but adequate for both. Speakers sound ok too, pointing up just below the LCD....

Samsung P580 review

The SF310 is the second Samsung laptop we've seen that has the company's 'wave-style' design. The first was the ultra-stylish NF210 netbook and this 13.3in ultraportable continues the excellent design scheme.

Apart from the underpowered graphics card and average screen, the SF310 a great all-rounder thanks to a long-lasting battery, decent performance and an excellent design.

Samsung P580 review

We weren't expecting much from the Samsung P580, but this is a highly usable laptop that offers surprising punch when it comes to performance. The anti-glare screen won't please everybody, however.

Scores high on usability ; Anti-glare display ; Surprising graphics capability

Visually, not very exciting

We didn't really have high hopes for the Samsung P580, with its uninspiring design and businessy pretentions. Nevertheless, we found it to be really usable, with better performance than we'd perhaps expect from a machine of this ilk. It's quite pricey,...

Samsung's 'Professional' laptop range offers a durable finish and some impressive specifications for the price.

Samsung's P580 offers a lot for its price, but it's not necessarily what business users will want. However, if you fancy some 3D gaming or frequently use graphics-accelerated applications, and can live with its short battery life, this versatile and...

Samsung P580 review

Consumer electronics giant Samsung has made some slim and stylish laptops in the past, but is also still covering the plain-Jane business sector too with slabs like…

The Samsung P580 is an old-fashioned laptop hiding an old-school legacy port, sporting the latest Intel and nVidia silicon inside. Unfortunately mobile workers may also balk at the old-time runtime of little over three hours too. It's a chunky...
