Samsung R540

The Samsung R540 seems to target a demanding audience, since its CPU, GPU, and all-around performance can drive powerful applications and games. But a mediocre display, a weak battery, and a stingy allocation of ports keep it from hitting the mark. If...

Blu-ray drive powers high-def movies ; Speedy CPU and GPU can drive any application

Disappointing battery life ; Mediocre screen

The quick processor and graphics chip performance only partly offset the mediocre screen and weak battery.

Samsung R540-11

The Samsung R540-11 is the lightest and fastest 15-inch laptop you can get, but you'll find better battery life elsewhere.

Lightest in its class. Top of its class in speed. Blu-ray drive included. Powered by a Core i5 processor. Midrange ATI graphics card is more powerful than its predecessor. Very nice design. Adjacent numeric keypad.

Poor battery life. Small battery.

Review Samsung R540-JS08DE Notebook

Refurbished. Samsung beefs up its low price entry-level R530 with an Intel Core CPU and Radeon graphics. The TFT isn't reflective anymore, but the lid and wrist-rest are even more so. Will the office-multimedia-all-rounder's concept be successful?

Quiet & cool (Silent Mode), Very good keyboard, Antireflective TFT, Viable brightness, Good application performance, 3D performance for casual gamers, Matt display in a small multimedia all rounder. This should be the case more often

Narrow viewing angles, Few interfaces, Short battery life, Yielding base plate, Clattery mouse keys, The greasy finger wrist-rest deters the office worker. It would have been a comprehensive office notebook without this compromise on the style factor

Samsung R540 Review

There is no shortage of low-cost laptops available in stores this holiday season, but the $700 Samsung R540 might be worth a closer look. Keep reading to find out what we thought about this 15-inch laptop with Intel Core i3 processor.

Good performance ; Decent keyboard ; Runs cool and quiet

Cheap build quality ; Small touchpad ; Washed out screen ; Limited battery life ; Overpriced ; The Samsung R540 combines good performance and lackluster build quality in an overpriced package.

The Telus Samsung R540 is an affordable device that has a couple nice features that puts this just above an entry level flip phone.

Samsung R540 review

A smart and well-built laptop, the R540 is powerful enough but lacks a dedicated graphics processor, and it's also missing a few expansion ports and features

Samsung R540 review

For about £589 inc VAT, the Samsung R540 delivers impressive specs, including a 2.2GHz Intel Core i3 350M processor, Intel HD Graphics, 4GB of system RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. The R540 fared well in real-world performance testing. From productivity...

Though the Samsung R540 laptop has the specs and Blu-ray drive of a multimedia powerhouse, its average-looking screen, indifferent audio, and weak battery life prevent the R540 from achieving greatness.

Samsung R540E

When we got the R540E in, I was pretty excited. I had to lend my laptop to someone else, so I got the chance to live with this bad boy from Samsung as my primary computer for three weeks.

I like it

Happy with this computer

low cost

has a slightly cheap feel, but that might be because it's fairly light weight. Lighter than my last laptop
