Samsung Profile SCH-R580 (U.S. Cellular) review: Samsung Profile SCH-R580 (U.S. Cellular)

Samsung Profile SCH-R580 (U.S. Cellular)

The Samsung Profile has a familiar design, a wide, spacious keyboard, and a 2-megapixel camera.

Navigation felt a bit cramped on the Profile, and the microSD card slot is behind the back cover.

The Samsung Profile is a decent entry-level messaging phone for an affordable price.

Samsung R580-JBB2

The Samsung R580-JBB2 laptop favors cutting-edge features over performance, the latest WiDi and WiMax wireless technologies and a Blu-ray drive.

WiDi and WiMax built-in. Blu-ray included. Design is well thought out. Comfortable keyboard. Good touchpad and mouse experience. 500GB hard drive. Fairly priced.

Battery needs to be bigger.

Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US review: Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US

Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US

Excellent specs for the money, including Blu-ray, Core i5 processor, and Nvidia graphics for less than $900.

Middling battery life; uncomfortable touch pad.

The Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US is the best bang for the buck we've seen in a current mainstream laptop, with great processing, graphics, and Blu-ray to boot.

Samsung R580

The Blu-ray drive (BD-Rom) is the showpiece of the R580's feature set. I've scoured the Web for the 15-inch systems that have Blu-ray drives, and almost all of them cost more than $1,000. Fact is, Blu-ray titles are coming down in price and you can...

Blu-ray included. Powered by a Core i5 processor. Midrange Nvidia graphics card for games. Best price for the amenities. Speedy laptop. Very nice design. Adjacent numeric keypad. 500GB hard drive

HD resolution, but only 720p

The Samsung R580 desktop replacement laptop has two things you won't typically find at this price: a Core i5 processor and a Blu-ray drive.

Review Samsung NP-R580-JS03DE Notebook

i5 All-Rounder. The 15.6 incher, Samsung R580 Hawk, is supposed t

Pleasant soundscape; Strong processor performance; Feasible battery life; Silent Mode

Poor viewing angles; Poor contrast; Compact arrow keys

Currently, there aren't any competitors in the less than 900 euro category with an exciting Core i5 and feasible middle class graphics combinations. Alternatively, there is only Deviltech Fire DTX with an ATI HD5650.

Samsung R580 Notebook

Elegant styling and solid specs for this notebook.

Samsung is not a big player in the mobile computer market, but their R580 notebook appears to signify an attempt to change that. Looking to make a splash with consumers, it's priced rather well and offers some strong hardware specifications and...

Samsung 15.6" R580 Multimedia Notebook

Samsung has not traditionally played a huge role in the evolution of notebooks. Companies such as Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer and Asus have all done noteworthy things to push the envelope, with the Adamo XPS, ThinkPad, IdeaPad and Eee PC all coming from...

Nice Value at Sub-$850 ; Unique Design ; Great Trackpad ; Solid Multimedia Playback ; Decent Gaming Abilities

Glossy Display ; Battery Life ; Strange Keyboard Layout ; Low Panel Resolution ; No USB 3.0

In our SiSoftware Sandra tests, the Samsung R580 didn't fare as well as we expected in the CPU department, but hung in there nicely in the physical disc and memory tests. The CPU continued to put up mixed results throughout our tests; it performed ell...

Samsung R580 (NP-R580H) notebook

It may look big and bulky, but Samsung's R580 is a 16in notebook that's surprisingly light. It weighs only 2.5kg and it feels very well built; it also looks stunning in its gradated, burgundy colour. While it's best suited as a desktop replacement,...

Fast performance, well built, USB sleep-and-charge, stylish, dedicated number pad ;

Too glossy, collects fingerprints, no keyboard backlight, relatively low screen resolution ;

One thing about the screen that's a bit of a let-down is its resolution. Despite being a big, 16in screen, its resolution is only 1366x768. It's okay for multitasking and using Windows 7's Aero Snap feature to line up programs side by side, but if you...

Samsung R580-JS02UK - 15.6in Laptop

Samsung produces a great performing Core i3-based system for less than 600 pounds.

Good performance ; Extensive connectivity ; Excellent value

Lid collects fingerprints ; Glossy palm rests ; Dreadful speakers

A combination of style, features, performance and value make the Samsung R580 a great, well-balanced all-rounder that will stand the test of time better than most.
