Samsung RC512-S02

The Samsung RC512-S02 ($1,199.99 list at Best Buy) desktop replacement laptop targets power user with its premium features and parts. It includes a Blu-ray drive, plenty of storage, and USB 3.0 ports. From a performance standpoint, there's nothing more...

Trendy aluminum design. Powerful quad core processor. Switchable graphics with the Nvidia GeForce GT 525M. Two USB 3.0 ports. WiMax and WiDi 2 preloaded. 6GB of memory. Blu-ray equipped

Lacks bigger battery option. 1,366-by-768 resolution is lame

The Samsung RC512-S02 is a powerful desktop replacement geared toward multimedia enthusiasts, but one that could sure use a bigger battery option.

Samsung RC512

Extras tend to count for a lot more if all the basics are in place. Would you care about sporty wheels and tinted windows on a two-cylinder Fiat? That may seem like a harsh analogy, but we think it's not too far from what you get with the Samsung...

Very good productivity, multimedia performance ; Above-average battery life ; Blu-ray drive ; USB 3.0 ports ; Support for WiMAX, WiDi

Potential issues with build quality ; Keyboard flexes too much

Our enthusiasm for this laptop's speed and battery life, as well as the premium feature mix for the price, is dampened by questionable build quality. Try it before you buy it.

Excellent laptop! $999 at Best Buy=big bang for your $

Overall, Samsung is offering a laptop for $999 that is highly comparable to something you might pay $2000 without sacrificing much. For my needs, I think they sacrificed the right things. I needed a high powered laptop to handle statistics software,...

DESIGN: Beautiful and sleek, sturdy build as it's partly aluminum (although the lid is a bit of a fingerprint magnet). Island keyboard w/ chicklet keys is ergonomically NICE and manages to fit in a number pad ; POWERFUL: With the intel i7 processor, 6GB

SCREEN: This seems to be the biggest complaint with this laptop. The resolution is 768p, which is lower than some prefer in a 15" screen. Here's the thing though: 768p is not that unusual for a 15" screen in this price range; in fact it's probably what y

Almost perfect...

What were they aiming for? I have no idea. The hardware just doesn't match up; there is no need for that level of processing & RAM power with such a dinky graphics card. If you want a data hog, you don't need a graphics card. If you want a gaming rig,...

LOOKS: Gotta put this first, this thing is stunning. This thing could give Apple a run for their money in design; really makes it stand out among the similar but-less-gorgeous laptops at this price range. It feels great as well, and is well set up ; PRO

BLOATWARE: Holy. Crap. There's a Samsung or CyberCameraWhatever or something for every normal piece of thing. Got a battery? There's bloatware for that. Got a processor? There's bloatware for that. Camera? Yup. Does your computer have an on/off
