Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 550 (XE550C22-H01)

The new Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 550 (XE550C22-H01) laptop is a speedy 3G-equipped portable Web terminal. It works well in that regard, but there are other netbooks and even ultraportables that do more for less money.

Quick bootup into Chrome. Full rich Website support, including Flash. Chrome Extensions and setting carry over from PC-based browsing. 100MB 3G free a month for two years. Verizon 3G. Less Malware to worry about. Ethernet port

Locked into Google account. Google Docs/Drive isn?t Office. Useless without Internet connection. HDMI/DVI/VGA requires an adapter

Samsung Chromebook Series 5 (3G, white)

For anybody who loves tech and gadgets, it's not hard to see the appeal of the Samsung Chromebook Series 5. It's a small, good-looking, affordable laptop the whole purpose of which is to keep you connected to your life online. It's even more attractive...

The Samsung Chromebook Series 5 is a small, attractive Netbook with long battery life, true instant-on Web access, and enough computing to use the Internet

The Series 5 is expensive for its features and abilities, and using it can be frustrating depending on your wireless signal strength

Despite solid hardware, great battery life, and fast start-up, we can't recommend the Samsung Chromebook Series 5 until and unless Google improves the Chrome OS.

Great netbook for fast access to internet

Fast access to the internet. Internet based. I think internet says it. I got mine for only $250 : https://sites.google.com/site/thechromebooksource/ I want you guys to get in on the discount I got as well so please hurry!

I bought mine for $250 including shipping and sales tax: https://sites.google.com/site/thechromebooksource/ That really added to my pros. It works just fine, the Samsung build quality is great

The only thing I would have liked is to get the laptop free

Great laptop for quick emails and low end online games

1. Great Speed ; 2. True start- Start-up time is great, even faster than promised ; 3. Very Durable- The laptop feels very durable and strong ; 4. Everything promised by Google is true and meets/succeeds standards

1. Touchpad- The touch bad is a little weird at first but you will get used to it ; 2. Being on a slow internet connection may cause the Chromebook to be slow

Amazing product

http://www.google.com/chromebook/#features ; The main Pro is that the OS is very light, and takes advantage of the full potential of the web

The hardware is not powerful enough to run high end games, but this isn't a gaming laptop ; Also, the OS still needs to improve on some things, but with automatic updates, the software will get better over time

Needs more polish and offline capabilities

PROS: Battery life - Is as promised, lasts all day on wifi. Boot Time - First boot takes a minute, but every boot after that is the promised < 10 second boot time. Innovative keyboard & Shortcut keys - I really love the function row on the keyboard....

Battery life ; Boot Time ; Innovative keyboard & Shortcut keys ; 3g plans are reasonably priced ; Screen Backlight ; Uploading from sd card ; Window organization and switching ; Dual Core Atom

Mousepad ; There is sometimes studder when scrolling webpages ; 3g activation ; Doesn't like 3g hotspots ; Sleep power drain ; Printing ; Lid Closing ; Angry Birds ; App purchases ; Google services ; Offline apps are non existant ; Apps must be loaded...

Poor support

In theory, its awesome, but in practice, just a crap!

Solid hardware ; 3G connection (Verizon provides up to 100MB free because Google sent that laptop to us for QA purposes)

OS is totally crap, I've been using Win 7, Iphone, Ipad but this is worst one I've ever used. You always need to install something with an application and it doesn't work. For example I installed Google Radio but it doesn't work due to missing plug in. A

Why would you get this crap over a tablet?

What a cataclysmic awful piece of hardware and software. Vista looks like polished diamond in comparison. And to think CNET gave it 2 1/2 stars, what does it take to get a bad review?

Ummm, it's almost cheap

So many cons and so little time ; Tied to 3G/Wifi ; Can't actually do anything new or different ; It's just a web browser ; No apps like Android or iOS have ; Really crappy hardware specs for a laptop ; Really expensive considering the crappy hardware...

Good Hardware, Terrible O.S.

Samsung Good Job. Google, this is worse than you social network. It needs a lot of work. Please get to work and make a serious laptop os.

The laptop itself is decent, and works great with windows (if you hack it to run windows

The O.S. is Terrible. If you don't want 3g the laptop only works at all in WiFi zones. If you do get the 3g version you will max out the data very quickly, and it isn't cheep. There is no software or drivers for anything available. All cellphones and ipod

The Laptop of the new era!

Since past summer I have this Chromebook and I am really happy with it, I will stick to the Chromebook Philosophy and other Google software because they really innovate and improve the way we use computers. If I just use a Windows running computer now,...

No Virus ; No Backup needed ; No Update needed (OS and Apps updates seamlessly) ; Install/Removing of Apps fast and effective ; Boots/goes off in seconds ; Great keyboard ; Good screen ; Handy function keys ; Improve himself with the time ; Nice design...

No bluetooth ; Graphics apps need still to improve ; If you open more than 10 tabs + you have more than 10 extensions running it may be not so fast ; Compatibility of files (documents) and programs ; Not much "offline working" apps ; We still have to...
