Sharp M4000 Review

This Centrino-based notebook performs right up there with the best of them, and the screen is a pleasure to behold.

Sharp M4000 WideNote

A poor keyboard hurts the light, wide-screen M4000 notebook.

Lightweight, nice widescreen

Flimsily constructed

Despite its long battery life and easy-to-tote size, the M4000 WideNote disappoints with its poorly executed keyboard.

Product Specifications

The M4000 WideNote ultraportable is for the highly mobile individual who always needs a notebook with them, needs the processing power of a desktop, requires a full-size keyboard for easy typing, demands the best possible battery life and doesn't want to get weighed down when traveling. The M4000 WideNote features an exceptionally bright, clear 13.3" WideNote WXGA display from Sharp, the world leader in LCD technology. The Sharp display boasts a brightness of 300 cd/m2 that enables a clear display, even in a well-lit room. Whether you are working on email, a spreadsheet, a presentation, or just kicking back to watch a movie, you are watching on the most advanced LCD manufactured today. The full-size keyboard is a real asset. The M4000 WideNote keyboard, with its 19mm pitch and 2.5mm stroke, is not constrained by compromises, nor will it leave you in any pain, regardless of your hand size. The unique industrial design of the M4000 WideNote offers advanced style and durability. The brushed aluminum outer system housing offers an elegant design, greater impact resistance and increased resistance to dirt and fingerprints. The internal magnesium frames provide superior stability for the motherboard, hard drive, optical drive and LCD display. For enhanced DVD viewing, the M4000 WideNote features sharp-fx, Sharp's exclusive DVD optimization software. This included module works with the included WinDVD software from InterVideo to automatically adjust image contrast for optimum clarity, providing a brighter picture in comparison to the "washed-out" viewing seen on other notebooks.
