Review Sony Vaio Pro 11 SVP121M2EB.G4 Ultrabook

Delicate Butterfly. The new Sony Pro series shines due to its impressive technical specifications. Our test model is slim and offers decent battery life and nice performance. It could very well be the ideal companion on-the-go. In our review, we will...

Bright Full HD IPS display with strong contrast ; Good color coverage ; Keyboard backlight ; Very good workmanship ; Good battery life ; Normal-sized HDMI port ; Light weight

Reduced brightness on battery ; Brightness fluctuations on battery ; Base is not very sturdy ; Small keys and the keyboard has poor sturdiness ; Distracting fan behavior

Sony has managed to leave many Windows 8 tablets in the dust (in terms of weight and mobility) despite having used a classic notebook design

Sony Vaio Pro 11

Splashy convertibles and hybrids might be what many laptop makers are using to get people interested in buying a new Windows 8 system, but we've been waiting for some good ol' traditional clamshells that are more than Windows 7 models with touch...

The Sony Vaio Pro 11 weighs less than 2 pounds and uses a fourth-gen Intel Core i5 to deliver long battery life and very good everyday performance. It has an excellent 11.6-inch 1080p touch screen and is competitively priced for its features.

The Pro 11, like its competition, has a nonremovable battery (though you can add an external battery), few ports and connections, and integrated graphics only. System memory is maxed out at 4GB.

The superthin, superlight Sony Vaio Pro 11 is everything we expect from an excellent ultrabook.

Sony VAIO Pro review: 'we're going to war with the MacBook Air'

My go-to laptop buying advice has been the same for the last two years, at least for anyone who doesn't know their PRAM from their Linux kernel. Oh, you're looking for a new laptop? Buy a MacBook Air. Apple's cheapest and lightest notebook is the easy...

Ridiculously thin and light ; Fantastic battery life

Huge build quality problems ; Ugly, problematic keyboard backlight in silver version ; Trackpad and Wi-Fi can be finicky ; Base model has a few performance issues

Two laptops, one purpose: make a thin, light laptop to take on Apple's

Sony Vaio Pro 11

Ultrabooks don't get much smaller than this offering from Sony.

Quality screen ; Good performance given the size

Touchpad not great ; Thermal issues

It mightn't be the fastest Ultrabook around, but the VAIO Pro 11 is definitely one of the most mobile. Weighing much less than a kilogram, it's the type of laptop that you can carry all day without breaking a sweat. Considering the quality screen and...

"Lightweight, powerful, small & convenient"

Overall it's a pretty good ultrabook; has touchscreen. Lightweight, of the same weight as apple mackbook air, high quality screen, make sure to get a privacy filter to get rid of glare.

IPS Full HD Display, touchscreen, quiet keyboard clicking sounds, fast, good integrated graphics 4400

Glossy coating, a bit glare outdoors

"Excellent laptop. The WiFi issue can easily be fixed."

The WiFi doesn't work but, if you go online and look for a solution, they'll tell you to re install/update the drivers using the Vaio update program. Pretty simple and it worked for me.

It's thin, has great battery life and is exceptionally fast.

The WiFi initially doesn't work.

"Big Problem: WiFi does not work!"

This is a great laptop, with one little catch: the WiFi doesn't work! I find it hard to believe that Sony is shipping a product with a known design flaw, but this appears to be the case. TONS of people are returning the laptops. See Sony's own message...

Lightweight, touchscreen, long battery life.

Defective WiFi design. Not kidding.

Not so pro

I bought a note 8 tablet and needed a full windows OS for work. Took it back Tried the ativ (i think, bought from att.) only to have it take way to long to load anything from a web page to a refresh on the OS itself (took 5 hours to try and remove the...

Decent battery life ; The i5 is a power house

Just seems to be more trouble then its worth. May be the new OS, but i have to restart to connect to a new wifi (new as in when i move from work to home.) Same with plugging in hdmi. always needs a restart. Just seems a bit dull for prime time. also a...
