Sony VAIO FW Review

The VAIO FW is a brand new Centrino 2 platform notebook from Sony, offering a much needed facelift, as well as a 16.4" widescreen. What sets this apart from other widescreen notebooks is the aspect ratio of the screen lets movie aficionados enjoy a...

Great design ; Solid build quality ; Extra-Widecreen (neat for movies and more perceived screen real estate) ; Comfortable keyboard once you get used to it

Battery life with smaller battery is poor ; LCD backlight unevenness ; Speakers sound rather anemic

The VAIO FW is a great step forward for Sony, and a worthy competitor to the Dell Studio 15 or even the Toshiba A305. The design is great, but more importantly the build quality is excellent. It feels solid, with a reasonably firm screen cover and...

Sony VAIO FW review

Sony's new Vaio FW140 covers a few firsts for us. It's the first 16-inch laptop we've gotten our hands on--and the display's movie-friendly 16:9 aspect ratio will become more popular in the next year or two (we've already seen it in the excellent...

If this 16-inch laptop is any indication, the Centrino 2 platform offers excellent battery life; 16:9 screen perfect for HD movies; excellent keyboard; attractive, simple design.

No immediate performance gains seen here from Centrino 2; screen not really true 1080p, despite the sticker on the system that says so; clicky media buttons seem old-fashioned; still some advertising clutter, but less than previous Vaio models.

Sony's smart design, long battery life, and a big 16-inch screen, make the Vaio FW140--the first Centrino 2 laptop we've seen--an excellent, but still portable, media hub.

Sony Vaio VGN-Z21MN/B

Is this the finest ultraportable Sony's yet produced? Sasha Muller goes mobile to find out.

It wasn't long ago that we looked at Sony's gorgeous, if pricey, VGN-Z11WN/B ultraportable, but now we've sneaked an exclusive first glance at its forthcoming replacement. The VGN-Z21MN/B is, to all intents and purposes, the big brother of Sony's...

The VGN-Z21MN/B is, to all intents and purposes, the big brother of Sony's 11.1in VGN-TT11WN/B. The 314 x 210 x 33mm dimensions conceal a generous 13.1in display and belie a headline grabbing weight of just 1.43kg. Factor in the power brick and the...

Sony's 13.1in Z-series redefines the ultraportable template, and justifies every single penny of its sizable price tag
