Sony VAIO VPC-EG27FM/W

The Sony VAIO VPC-EG27FM/W mainstream laptop packs a Core i5 processor, a Blu-ray drive, and the latest wireless technologies into its slightly bulky 14-inch frame.

Blu-ray drive included. WiMAX and WiDi 2.0 enabled. Great battery life. Stylish design.

No USB 3.0 or eSATA ports. Bulky. No Bluetooth.

The Style in SonyStyle. Sony refreshes its budget 14-inch Vaio E

Solid CPU performance; Good and stable build quality for the price; Good keyboard layout; Good battery life; Blu-ray and WiDi options; More stylish than most budget notebooks; 4x USB 2.0 ports

Low maximum screen brightness and poor outdoor usage; No eSATA, USB 3.0, Bluetooth, WWAN options; Underwhelming touchpad; Poor speakers; Permanently audible fan; Low quality webcam

Vaio VPC-CA1S1E, Packard Bell EasyNote NX69-HR-127GE, Dell Inspiron 14z, Toshiba Satellite P745-S4250, LG P420-N.AE21G. More expensive competitor: Samsung Series 7 with a similar CPU.
