Terrible battery life

Due to the power drain issue the battery life indicator does not show a true status. It might say I have 12% left, but in reality I have 50%. I have owned this for almost 2 years now and have never come even close to the 4 hour battery claim, even...

Lots of power, plenty of storage, excellent screen

This model suffers from the infamous battery drain problem. When shut completely off I lose 10-20% battery charge per day. You always have to have this near a wall outlet for fear you are going to run out of power

There is speed but power may be an issue.

Scores a 5.8 on the Windows Experience Index. Planning a SSD swap in the future to further prolong its life. Thankfully, Sony only chooses to use the higher grade, i5-520m model instead of the i5-430m, the performance potential between the 2 is pretty...

Sleek, glossy white, exterior ; Chiclet keyboard ; Large touchpad for a 14 ; Light and miserly according to Sony can last you a period of 3 hours 30 minutes, (I measured 3 hours 23 minutes before the battery meter went below 5%) ; Played Starcraft 2...

There's a battery drain issue as reported on the notebookreview forums. I've seen a 12% overnight loss leaving the battery in the laptop as compared to 3% overnight loss leaving the battery out. Doesn't seem like sony will issue a fix ; The screen...

very well balanced

I can't stand the hard drive, but I'll be upgrading to SSD to have a very capable PC still much cheaper than other comparable spec'd models If you can live with the limited cons, it's a great machine for the price, especially with its great...

Specs - one of the most powerful 14" notebooks around ; Display is gorgeous (even if 1600x900 is a bit awkward) ; Good value for price ; Keyboard and trackpad both work very well

Hard drive - 5400 RPM is painful sometimes, especially knowing the rest of your machine is so capable ; Speakers are almost nonexistent ; Requires you to burn your own recovery disc

Nice Notebook

Sony computers have never disappointed me. Sony and/or Apple = Good Customer Experience.

High resolution screen, nice keyboard, great graphics card, pretty good display, blue-ray, very good warranty support. Runs everything I throw at it. Unfortunately, the motherboard failed after one month but Sony sent a tech support person to the house...

A little heavy (5.3 lbs) but not bad, especially for the price

Sony VPCCW27FX/B - Great Performer

Neither Pro nor Con: - Display - I read some reviews claiming excessive / unbearable glare, and that the "automatic" backlighting control was too dim. After using, there is some glare in certain settings and lighting conditions. Is it unbearable? IMO...

I went through 2 of these laptops before getting this one, so giving it a five star rating says a lot about its quality. The first one I received from another vendor (initials are BB), and the hard drive crashed during initial set up. Root cause could...

I thought about giving up on this model, but I researched laptops for a LONG time and liked the specs and features for the ; In summary, I am glad I purchased this Sony model. I have 5 desktops at home, and have used at least 10 different laptops in...

Great laptop for portability and performance

Is the notebook perfect? No. But am I satisfied with it? Absolutely. This laptop is a jack of all trades in that it can do just about anything you throw at it. Supposedly Sony is getting rid of their CW model for their new 14" E series models, and...

Very sleek design. I personally love the black ; One of the very few notebooks out there under 17" that actually has a resolution higher than 1366x768. I was originally looking at 15" and 16" laptops, but their low resolution was a deal breaker for me...

While the black finish looks great, it sets itself up for a finger print magnet. I'm probably going to buy some kind of special cloth to keep it clean ; LOTS of proprietary Sony bloatware. Booting it up for the first time I had over 75 processes...

Nice package

This was one of the very first i5 notebooks; when I bought it (not at Newegg) there was not any competition and it was also at a big discount; I don't think I would have bought it at list price. Today there might be better values. Sony makes Google...

Good hardware package. 1600x900 screen, nice keyboard, runs cool. I had been looking for something this size with comparable specs, but this was the first notebook I found in my price range. Windows performance numbers: 6.8, 5.9, 6.4, 6.4, 5.8....

Keyboard looks elegant, because the PgUp, PgDn, Home and End keys are Fn-Arrow combos. You can learn to touch-type it, but sometimes it is too complicated, and then you're spoiled for using a normal keyboard ; Plastic shell scratches easily; wrist pad...

Awesome laptop

It is little bit pricy than other online market. But Newegg provides a better shipping option and handling.

1. It runs most recent high end games; crysis, Arma2, Mass Effect2, MW1, MW2 and more with high option ; 2. Nice keyboard and glossy LCD ; 3. Blueray

The only problem is caused by Windows 7 and lack of 2nd hdd. The Windows 7 is lagging when it doesn't have the 2nd hdd and you're downloading some big file like game patches or demo onto your single hdd. This is also happening in the Quad core desktop...

Overall great laptop!

Bought this for my deployment here in Iraq. Using it as a school powerhouse that will help develop myself as a Network Specialist. With its size and capabilities, I have found no downside to this laptop at all. Great laptop for the $1000 range.

With the new i5 processor combined with 4 gigs of DDR3 and the Nvidia 330m GT makes this laptop one hell of a deal. As far as the details goes, this laptop is well balanced for everyday work and gaming when your not at work. This is a cool, quiet...

As with all laptops, the user must protect their investment by keeping it clean, both hardware and software. Make sure you shop around for this laptop, quite a few different makes out there that add or subtract their own hardware or software. Newegg...
