Toshiba NB500/NB505 review – a best pick budget 10 inch netbook

 

Hey guys, I finally managed to get the review for the Toshiba NB500/NB505 on today, although I've had the device on my test desk for a while. You can read my views on it in this article. First, what I got...

good design and solid build quality ; special attention to details and port's layout ; partially full-size keyboard ; decent sound volume and quality ; good battery life ; very good price ;

glossy bezel around the screen and glossy display ; trackpad unprecisse sometimes ; keyboard's layout will take some time to addapt to ;

Netbooks have been a part of my life for many years now and have seen them grow a lot since 2007. The Toshiba NB500 is for sure a product of this evolution, a solid built 10 incher with a great price tag.

Toshiba NB500 budget netbook

 

Review Few netbooks have been truly cheap - well, few of the decent ones, anyway - but now we're at the third generation of Intel's Atom processor family, an opportunity has arisen for netbook makers to offer less pricey models based on older chippery.

Yes, the NB500 comes at a bargain basement price, for a netbook, but its a cheap-feeling machine that's desperately in need of more memory and a better wireless card. You can add an extra gig of Ram easily and cheaply, but tough luck if you want faster...

very light weight and small, which was the reason I purchased this netbook and really good battery life. Perfect for me as I can have it with me all day at uni!

Disappointed that it only came with Windows 7 Starter version, which does not allow you to play DVD's, I had purchased an external CD/DVD drive which I could not use so I had to upgrade to Windows 7 Home which was an additional cost that I had not...

Very reliabale and performs well. I use about four hours a day and never malfunctioned (more than three years. A good value for money. Would have been excellent value if at a lower price.

Slighty on the pricer side. Low battery life. My model is on the heavier side, but it is an older model. The latest ones are lighter and have good battery life.
