Toshiba Satellite R830

If you're on the go a lot, what you want is a small, light laptop that'll slip in and out of a bag. It should have a good screen, a comfortable keyboard and plenty of processing power plus a battery that just keeps going. Is the latest member of...

Light, powerful, good battery life, Portégé quality without the Portégé price

Awkward keyboard design

At first glance the Satellite R830 is almost identical to the ultra-light Portégé R830, with the same respectable battery life - but not the same price tag. Toshiba has delivered a powerful and light budget machine, with all the features you'd expect...

Toshiba Portégé R830-138

Want an ultraportable notebook that concentrates on features rather than style? Optical drive, full speed processor, wireless display, USB 3.0, light weight, long battery: Toshiba delivers again with the Sandy Bridge update to the Portege range -...

A slim, lightweight business ultraportable that gives you full-size performance, features and battery life - and stands up to the rigours of travel

A slim, lightweight business ultraportable that gives you full-size performance, features and battery life - and stands up to the rigours of travel

At this price, you might expect the Portege R830 to have more premium features - a backlit keyboard, an ambient light sensor, discrete graphics or a better quality screen - but then you remember it has mobile broadband, wireless display, an optical...

Toshiba Portégé R830 - X3435 Notebook Review

Toshiba's Portégé series has been around for quite a while now but they've often slipped under the radar with their more flashy

The Portégé R830 is priced at Rs.85,589 (MRP) and Rs. 80,990 (MOP). It’s got the specs, but the price is quite exorbitant. The only noticeable cons in the performance were lack of a backlit keyboard and slight overheating when pushed to the max....

Toshiba Portege R830 (PT321A-01L002) ultraportable laptop

Toshiba Portege R830 review: A 13.3in ultraportable with great features, strong build quality and excellent battery life

Excellent performance and battery life ; Good build quality ; Plenty of built-in features

Keyboard not backlit ; Screen not great ; Long charging time

Toshiba's Portege R830 is a great choice for business users who want something that's easily mobile, yet fully-featured and fast. It's not perfect -- it could use a better screen, a backlit keyboard and a quicker charging time -- but it's very well...

Review: Toshiba R830 Notebook Companion Ups Productivity

If you're productive and on the go, this notebook will make a great travelling companion. With a stylish magnesium clad exterior and ultraportable, light and well built form, this 13.3 inch screen Satellite R830 from Toshiba competes with other Sandy...

Very light (less than 1.5kg); Understated and stylish; Generous connectivity and specs; Excellent value ;

Mediocre screen; Keyboard feedback too shallow

Considering its affordable price, the magnesium-clad Toshiba Satellite R830-143 will make a great travelling companion for productivity-oriented individuals looking for a stylish and light 13.3in laptop that doesn't compromise on power or features....

Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

Not a fan at all.

I was really impressed for the first few weeks... it was fast, fairly responsive, did what it was designed to do...then things started to go wrong very quickly. We only use the laptop for fairly basic things - a bit of web surfing, spreadsheets,...

It's light and portable.

Performance has declined very quickly, speakers are terrible, unreliable and "buggy"

Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

product is okay, but service is terrible.

Within two months of purchasing TOSHIBA Portege R830 and a carry case (ONT200AU/TOSH) from Datacom under a three year extended global warranty, the laptop became much more noisy and one of the zip tags was broken. Heat dissipation and related noise...

poor service and arrogant attitude

Portable speed machine

Bulletproof build, Hours of real world battery life. Connectivity options huge and includes sleep and charge. Useful Toshiba software to improve productivity. Fast as lightning for a portable machine, full power SandyBridge i3, i5, i7 processors...

Toshiba Satellite R830-142

Very light, good build quality, good spec. Performance is good, when software is set up correctly.

Toshiba software installed is obscure to understand, and too much of it. Function key software and operation really complex, not all of it worked. Took a long time to get setup stable and working well. Screen is no better than OK.
