Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5130

There's a common conception in laptop purchasing that the best values to be had on the bottom end tend to lie in the "doorbuster" 15-incher. We've seen these laptops advertised during holiday shopping seasons and in store circulars--they're big, cheap,...

An affordable 15-inch laptop with a long battery life.

The AMD Fusion E-240 processor underperforms compared to similarly priced alternatives; chassis feels cheap; touch pad is smaller than average; no Bluetooth or HDMI; underfeatured for its size.

While the Toshiba Satellite C655-S5130 cracks the $400 barrier for an affordable 15-inch laptop, this particular AMD Fusion-powered laptop underperforms and underdelivers.

Toshiba Satellite C655D

This ultra-affordable, AMD-powered laptop pairs netbook-like performance with a larger screen.

It helps to think of the Toshiba Satellite C655D more as a big netbook than a well-rounded mainstream notebook. At $398 (currently $378 at Walmart), it costs the same as many of those higher-end 10-inch systems, yet it offers a much larger screen and...

Toshiba Satellite C655-S5049

There is nothing flashy about the Toshiba Satellite C665-S5049, which isn't surprising since it has an entry-level price of $349. Toshiba outfits this 15.6-inch laptop in a plain, matte-black, textured plastic chassis that could be from any...

Affordable; decent battery life; responsive, multitouch touch pad; lightweight.

Single-core processor lags behind slightly pricier dual-core laptops; no Webcam; only two USB ports.

The entry-level Toshiba Satellite C665-S5049 won't turn any heads with its plain looks and modest features, but it avoids any serious misstep, a statement not every ultra-affordable laptop can make.

Toshiba Satellite C655D AMD E-240 Fusion APU Notebook Review

The processor inside the Toshiba Satellite C655 is just one reason why this laptop is interesting. The other is the laptop’s size. Yes, laptops with 15.6” displays are the most common sold today, but Intel has made sure to keep Atom processors out of...

Preview: Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5126 AMD E-240 15-in Notebook

AMD has been making promises about the future of our computing lives revolving around this thing called "Fusion". We previewed the world of the AMD Brazos platform late last year and now we have our first retail notebook based on the Zacate processor,...

The numbers make this machine look much like other sub-$500 notebooks we have looked at before with 3GB of system memory (shared with the graphics processor on the APU), a good sized 5400 RPM 320 GB hard drive, 5.5 lbs weight with a 6-cell battery,...

Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5043

This $449 laptop will suit those with basic computing needs. Note, though: A single-core CPU pushes its performance behind that of its peers.

Gorgeous display; roomy keyboard; affordable

Single-core CPU; low benchmark scores; no Webcam, HDMI, or dedicated multimedia buttons; lid and keyboard flex; mediocre speakers

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

Best for simple users. This wasn't designed for technologically complicated people. This was for the person that wants to rock out on microsoft and photoshop and

big screen, simple layout, simple to perform functions like word, skype, internet, printing, updating.. decent sound system, HD web camera, good cd burner/player, my internet was really fast on this things, sturdy.

could come with a wireless mouse.
