Toshiba Satellite M50 (14-inch, 1.4GHz)

Despite its extremely affordable price and logical design, the M50 fails to stand out in terms of performance, features or battery life.

Highly affordable ; Attractive chassis design ; Fairly light at 2.4kg ; Convenient multimedia buttons ; Instant-on media playback function ; Impressive Harman Kardon speakers

Extremely poor battery life ; Paltry 256MB of memory ; Comparatively small hard drive ; No Firewire port ; No memory card reader

All in all, it's difficult for us to recommend the M50 purely due to its sub-par battery life. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if the notebook leapt ahead in other areas such as performance or feature-set, but unfortunately this isn't the case. If...

Great laptop! Except it doesn't have a webcam and when you click the 'Play' button it goes to Windows Media Player when i want it to go to iTunes.

Good speaker, great colour and style, Bluetooth, WLAN

Battery life is terribly bad, useless keys on keyboard, no webcam

Toshiba Satellite M50 (14-inch, 1.4GHz)

Laptop seems to be quite powerful. However, I often have problems with it. My M50 is 2 years old now and wow I've had SOO many problems with the cooling fan, the bluetooth module, hard disk..... I guess my problems were due to the inapt technicians at...

Pentium M 740 (1.73GHz) ; 768MB DDR RAM ; ATI MOBILLITY RADEON X600SE (256MB + 128MB ext Video RAM) ; Integrated Bluetooth, 5-in-1 card reader

Absolutely lousy battery life! (Being only 2 years old, it lasts for just 40 minutes!)

I've had this laptop for a while now and its been very good. Mine came with 512MB of RAM not the 256MB it says that review. I have even gotten it to run Vista Ultimate with the transparent aero theme turned on with the same performance as XP without...

Great Performance for such low specs ; Light wight ; Loud, clear speakers ; Wireless built-in ; Nice look ; Is able to run older games like Halo 1

Extremely poor battery life ; Is not able to run the newer games

Toshiba Satellite M50 (14-inch, 1.4GHz)

Excellent Low-Priced / Entry Level Notebook. It does most of the jobs fairly well.

Excellent Price. (866 AUD) With Folliwing Specs ; 1.4 Celeron-M ; 768 RAM ; 40 GB ; Wi-Fi ; 14" Widescreen (1280 X 768) ; DVD/CD-RW Combo ; Only 2.4 Kg ; ATI X200 Express Chipset ; Good Built Quality ; Loud Speakers for the size and price

I wish it had a card reader and firewire within this price ; I dont know why most of the companies are getting rid of the necessary mic in their notebooks ; Its too cheap
