Review Toshiba Satellite Pro L650-197 Notebook

Business All-Rounder. Equipped with a strong Intel Core i5 CPU and a starter graphic solution from ATI, the Satellite Pro L650 tries to score with business typical characteristics, such as a matt display.

Matt display, Value for money ratio, Easy to clean surface, Input devices, The matt display that you hardly ever find these days

Unbalanced display illumination, High system temperature (idle and load), Quiet loudspeakers, Moderate battery life, A slightly longer battery life.  A bit over two hour while surfing is in fact very scanty

Large memory allows memory hungry software to run efficiently . Light weight, easy to handle good screen size.

On the expensive side.

Light, good screen and fast.

Could do with a 3rd/4th USB - my bulky vodafone broadband dongle blocks any other external hardware using the 2nd USB and even with an extension I have to use a hub for and external mouse and keyboard for my work station - luckly I have a usb hub.

Comfortable keyboard and non-glare screen.

Some applications slow to open but that may be Windows 7. Battery life poor.

Has everything I need for portable computing and so far so good after two months of use. Intel Core i3 processor seems to work well.

The main minus is that the computer comes with Windows 7 which, whilst hugely better than Vista, is still not as 'user friendly' in some areas as the earlier Windows XP. Maybe Microsoft will get it right with Windows 8?
