Toshiba Satellite U920t review: middle of the road

The Satellite U920t is an Ultrabook that was released by Toshiba earlier this year. Currently, it is the only product in its laptop/tablet combo range that

All in all the Toshiba Satellite U920t is, at most, average. In a highly competitive Ultrabook market I don’t think it stands a chance against its competitors, except maybe in pricing. But at R10,999 it will still leave a sizable gap in your wallet. In...

Apart from crowds, cheap cola and stressed journalists, the next most likely thing you'll see at this year's IFA is some kind of hybrid laptop and

A powerful but clunky 12.5in hybrid device running Windows 8.

Good battery; Decent performance; Lots of connectivity

Too heavy to be a tablet; Average screen; Price of a laptop

The Toshiba Satellite U920T isn’t the best hybrid device out there. It does offer more functionality than the Surface RT, but is simply too heavy to be used a tablet as you cannot undock the keyboard.

Toshiba Satellite U920T hybrid review

Toshiba's first attempt to break into the fast-growing Windows 8hybrid market is a slightly weird beast, with a love-it-or-hate-ittransformation mechanism, that marks it as distinctive, but won'tbe practical enough for everyone.

Wired: Decent performance for the price, distinctive look

Tired: Screen not full HD, weird transforming method, heavy fora tablet

Toshiba Satellite U920T-11C

Great Design - tablet / tablet & Gliderpad / full laptop. Performance is excellent with the i5 processor. Impressed with the startup in 6 or 7 seconds even fully loaded. V quick flipping between applications

In laptop mode, the screen often sticks in a different orientation and won't shift back till the screen is laid back flat and the device stood upright. Windows 8 issue in that can't pinch and zoom some legacy programs making viewing and touch selection...

Toshiba Satellite U920T-11C

Good Performance ; Novel design, it's a great laptop/tablet combo ; Keyboard ; Screen give a good image ; Keyboard is backlit ; Sliding mechanism

Track pad could do with being slightly larger ; Only 2 USB ports ; As a laptop user there is a tendency to want to shut the lid rather than push back and slide down

Toshiba Satellite U920T-11C

Slim, decent battery life, full windows laptop with good performance, fast boot time, responsive touch screen

Not 100% sure about the screen being on the outside all the time. Bit of a risk, but very convenient ; still getting to grips with win 8, but no actual problems ; the front edge when in laptop configuration is almost sharp. Considering taking sandpaper...

Decent all rounder. Windows 8 not as bad as I thought it would be

Being picky. Some problems with Wifi but sorted using windows help tool ; Screen vulnerable, get a protector or a sleeve. Screen not as responsive as iPad so don't come in with high expectations

Toshiba Satellite U920T-11C

A tablet AND a full blown Windows 8 PC all in one ; It's very easy to open and switch between the two modes ; Storage space is reasonable at 128GB, but I bought a Kingston 128GB SDXC memory card (£60) and leave it in the card slot to double the storage...

None that I can think of
