Asus UX50V-RX05 review: Asus UX50V-RX05

Asus UX50V-RX05

Head-turning design; roomy 15.6-inch screen with 16:9 aspect ratio; keyboard is exceedingly comfortable and features backlighting; dedicated graphics offer some 3D-gaming capability.

Core 2 Solo processor can't keep up with dual-core competition; highly uncomfortable mouse button; merely average battery life, despite energy-efficient processor.

With its low-end single-core processor, dedicated GeForce graphics, and 16:9 display, the unquestionably sleek, entertainment-minded Asus UX50V-RX05 is a good fit for a specific user profile: the movie lover/sometime gamer.

Review Asus UX50V Notebook

Judge a book by its cover? Asus wants to poach in the starter sec

Switchable graphic cards; Keyboard light; Many function keys; Quiet and cool; Flat and attractive design

but sensitive surfaces; Awkward positioned headphone output; Loud slot-in drive; Poor display; Mediocre battery life; Low performance under Vista with core solo

The Samsung Q320 doesn't only bid all fingerprint-haters a matt surface but also a dual-core CPU. The previously tested Lenovo G550 also offers a two-core processor for a lot less money and is also available with the Geforce G105M. Otherwise Aspire...

ASUS U50Vg notebook

A 15.6in notebook with good specs and a brilliant touchpad

Excellent touchpad, backlit keys, swift performance, good battery life, not too heavy for a 15.6in notebook

Keyboard backlight not automatic, keyboard bounces and makes a rattling noise, screen is too glossy and has shallow vertical angles

This 15.6in notebook is quick and has plenty of useful features. In particular, we love its multitouch touchpad. The ASUS U50Vg would make a great desktop replacement, but it's also capable of being transported to work or school and its battery life is...

Asus UX50V review

A stylish and high-quality offering from Asus, but not the fastest machine

Good graphics card ; Nice build quality ; Reasonable performance

Keyboard flexed slightly under pressure ; Core 2 Solo could be better

A very nice laptop for those looking for something a little less run-of the mill
