MSI Wind 12 (U230-040US)

The MSI Wind12 U230 ($430, as of April 16, 2010) offers the performance of an ultraportable in the chassis of a netbook. But poor battery life turns a strong contender into a lame duck.

The MSI Wind 12 U230 offers a roomy screen in a portable package, with strong performance but fleeting battery life.

MSI Wind U230-040US 12.1-inch Netbook

MSI's line of Wind netbooks aren't all packed with 10-inch and smaller screens and Intel hardware. The MSI U230-040US netbook I am checking out today is a 12.1-inch rig with AMD power. But is it worth the money?

MSI Wind U230-040US Notebook Review

Today I am looking at the MSI Wind U230-040US notebook. The notebook is one of the first from MSI to use the AMD Athlon Neo X2 processor. Shoppers looking for a 12.1-inch ultraportable with hardware on the lower end of the price scale will want to...

MSI Wind12 U230 Netbook w/ AMD Athlon Neo X2 L335 CPU Review

Since netbooks have increased in popularity over the past year, the standard screen size of ten inches has been a hindering factor for many PC users. MSI has recently released their next generation of Wind netbooks which they have deemed the Wind 12...

Netbook Review: MSI Wind12 U230

Under the hood, along with a faintly audible cooling fan, is an AMD Athlon X2 L335 processor -- a 1.6GHz dual-core chip with dual 256K Level 2 caches -- joined by 2GB of DDR2 memory; an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics controller that borrows 128MB of...

MSI Wind12 U230

The U230 offers more processing grunt than a comparable netbook, but fails in the crucial power stakes.

Comfortable keyboard ; 12.1-inch display ; A good price for a non-netbook ultraportable ; Performs better than any netbook

Battery life needs to be better in an ultraportable setting ; Function keys to the right of the enter key are a nuisance

An AU$699 ultraportable a couple of years back would have seemed like a pipe dream. Then came a raft of netbooks, making the AU$699 system a reality, albeit with severe processing limitations. The U230 steps neatly over those limitations, but its...

MSI Wind 12 U230 review

The MSI Wind 12 U230 netbook has a lot to like, but its battery life - 3hrs, 48 mins in our tests - is a dealbreaker. The average battery life for netbooks is about 7hrs. It's unfortunate, considering the Wind12 U230's strong general performance and...
