Nice wide angle lens at a reasonable price.

I consider myself an avid amateur protographer, and as such I'm quite please with the addition of this Sigma lens to my stable of equipment for my 5D. However, I do know just enough to realize where the trade-off occurred between this sub-$300-lens and...

A fair wide-angle lens for Canon cameras at a small fraction of many other lenses

You do get what you pay for -- less image fidelity, some optical distortion, quite a bit of bulk as compared to more prices lenses

Great macro lense

No comment, really...so far in low light it really blew my mind-fast focusing, sharp image, little to none distorshion on either end. Colors in low light are bright and natural. The feel, the look-everything speaks for the reputaion of quality and...

low price followed by the great quality, fast, sharp for the money, feels incredibly nice, comes with the very nice pouch and a hood.

given that its almost $300 cheaper then the 17-40L, NONE.

Sigma 17-35 mm f2.8-4.0 EX DG HSM

The pictures are nice colored, sharp without torsion and vignetting. It is a realy very good lens. Even the filter diameter is smaller than itwas on the previous one. The magnification is three time bigger! Noiseless autofocus!

Heavy. The autofocus is not the sharper some time (if it need only a small adjustment) so you should correct it with manually. (But you can do it in AF mode!)
