If it was a stop faster, then the EF-S 17-85mm could be the perfect standard zoom lens. It performs well when wide-open, but you're paying a high premium for the image quality and image stabilisation

Remarkably compact, this Pentax lens is a real space-saver. There's some barrel distortion but almost no vignetting at wide angle. The optics are only at their sharpest around the middle of the zoom range

I'm pleased with the wide angle lens and use it a lot while telephoto one is useless. It works only if I zoom up to the maximum, otherwise the image looks like I'm looking through a pipe because of the attachement ring.

This is not a true fisheye lens. The wide angle is okay but you get some vignetting. The construction of the lens feels solid but it is as good as a curved piece of glass will get. (you get what you pay for)
