great for dental photography

use with rebel xsi, mr-14 ring flash, aperature at 29 or 32 and shutter speed 1/60. get great depth of field and incredible detail

takes great before and after photos of patients teeth. When I put patients pictures up on the screen, I can zoom in on the smallest detail and patients can clearly see and understand what I see. The smallest details are clearly obvious. Patients can...

will sometimes hunt for focus, but I manual focus anyway

great macro and portrait lens

60 mm is too short a focal length for photographing insects - you get too close to the subject and it flies away. If you like hunting bugs then you should consider a longer focal length lens that will give the same magnification from a greater distance.

A true 1:1 macro lens. Very sharp. This focal length works beautifully as a portrait lens too. Nice bokeh at f2.8 ; There's real-time manual focus or you can use the manual/auto switch ; Takes inexpensive 52mm filters. The front does not rotate when...

EF-S mount so it won't work on full frame bodies. Sometimes autofocus gets VERY confused and hunts a lot (you should use manual focus for macro instead)

Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens

Definitely worth the money.

Amazing macro abilities, every picture I've taken with this lens has turned out far beyond beautiful. It's easy to use, and I love the small DEF. Definitely recommended to any photographer interested in doing macro work. Its also great for portraits

Lens "hunts" a little in AF mode, but besides that I haven't found any other problems with it

Incredible lens

One of the best Nikon macro lenses you can buy. Highly recommended.

Razor sharp, quality build, little (if any) distortion. Far superior to the 18-135 mm kit lens

Auto focus on my D80 isn't always able to focus

Nice lens

This is a great portrait lens. Not the best walk around lens but it does take nice clean shots. Very clear and sharp

Since it is a 60 mm macro lens the DOF isnt large

Simply Amazing

Thought I'd test this as a walk around lens for a car event I had to shoot. My main camera was set up with a tripod so I had this on my 2nd camera which is a 30D. I am completely surprised at the images I was able to capture with only using available...

Super-sharp images

High quality, cheaper price

I bought this lens yesterday for my t5i and I was skeptical at first. I have never bought a macro lens before and I wasn't really sure what to expect. After playing around with it for a while and taking multiple test shots, I started to get a hang of...

extremely fast on non closeup subjects ; Fast auto-focus ; Superior build quality ; Super-sharp images

What I wanted when I wanted it

I got this lens because I am particularly interested in doing macro photography as a pastime, not a professional. It looked like the best lens for this purpose as it lacked only image stabilization which is minimally helpful at such close distances...

Easily Interchangeable ; Fast / accurate auto-focus

My most used lens

I am an novice photographer, but I really wanted to get into macro photography, as well as candid snapshots, so I chose this lens. Being fixed lens, it has better image quality than most zoom lenses. The downfall to this, being the lack a zooming...

Fast auto-focus ; Macro capabilities ; Super-sharp images ; Wide aperture

fixed zoom ; no image stabilisation
