Out of all the telephoto focal lengths, the 400mm is my favorite, so I looked forward to Canon's updated 400mm f/2.8L. At about $11,499 list price (slightly less on searched street prices) it's for those who absolutely need a fast, fixed focal length...

As I normally shoot travel and landscape, with occasional product shots and weddings, it's not often I play with the big guns. You know, 400, 500 and 600mm lenses.

Don't forget these is no IS. My hand-held shots at 1/40 did come out so good. 100% satisfied with lens and Beach. Built in hood a plus.

I bought this lens for wildlife photography and it is great for that. It's just obviously a very heavy lens. Not easy to port to places you would like to walk to but I truly am not complaining about that because I knew it when I bought it. I love it...

Having use an image stabilised 100-400 for a couple of years that struggles for sharpness at 400mm it was a gamble to go for this old tech fixed 400mm but I am pleased that I did. Pin sharpness, hand held, is straightforward in good light although...
