The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM is a very compact telezoom for full-frame Canon SLRs, but its image quality is lacking.

Compact. Optically stabilized. Full-frame coverage.

Pricey. Not that sharp. Lots of distortion when zoomed.

If the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM was a budget-priced lens, we could forgive some of its shortcomings. But it's priced at a premium, in part due to its compact design, and while we didn't expect it to be impeccable like the EF 70-200mm...

In real world photography, with normal subjects taken in good light, most people will be very pleased with the results from this lens. The resolution can be close to that of the 100-400 IS but with a much smaller, easier to handle lens.
