Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 was a quite popular standard zoom during the film era and possibly itwill regain its former significance once full frame sensors will eventually enter the mainstream marketbut on the current APS-C DSLRs it is a quite...

The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM proved to be a quite solid performer without any spectacularstrengths nor weaknesses except maybe low contrast performance. On APS-C DSLRs it is surely not afirst choice due to its focal length range which feels a...

Good basic lens if you're on a budget

I've seen these selling USED on internet auction sites for $50-$75 MORE than NEW ones found on If I'm packing light, this is the lens I keep on my 20D for general use. Highly recommended.

Nice image quality ; good build quality

None, as long as you remember this is a consumer lens and not expensive L-glass

Excellent item for the price

This is a great lens. I've heard about the lens, but haven't tested it thouroughly. I used Tamron 28-75mm before, which was an excellent lens also. I would say that Tamron lens is better than this Canon lens (of course, it's $150 more expensive). I...

USM, silent, light, cheap

macro feature doesn't work well

Good & one of the best for your money

2008-09-04 19:57:16 Not weather proof, Not L lens construction quality.... but the picture quality is close to L lens in night picture. I do own a 24-70 L lens and the quality is very close even when I pixalized it. Of course, picture taken with tripod...

Very inexpensive lens. Great for the money.

For 225.... not many weakness.

Good starter zoom lens

Do NOT mix this up with the f/4-5.6 model - this is perhaps one of the best zoom lenses to get if you're on a budget and just starting out. If you have a dSLR, more than likely you'll have a compensation factor 1.6x so just remember your images will be...

Good value (less than $250 and you get a nice range), fast AF, sharp quality, works on both film and dSLRs

Lens hood is separate, which is a must (susceptible to flare), somewhat stiff zoom ring, no L glass

Still one of the best on the market

This is one the Canon prosumer series lens - fast, great quality, sharp and very reasonably priced. Definitely get a hood for this lens - one of the best 25 bucks ever spent. This lens is a true great performer and works really well with my Canon...

Very solid lens, stunning picture quality

NONE for the price

So much better than kit lenses!

Compared to other consumer lenses at this price range, this is a great buy. . The zoom range is great, but I wish it was a little bit wider to compensate for the 1.6 conversion factor on my Rebel XT. For some odd reason, my copy of this lens sometimes...

Deathly silent and fast USM, zoom range, overall build quality, price, image quality (compared to consumer lenses)

Zoom ring doesn't feel as smooth as it should (maybe it's my copy), a little soft at ends of the zoom range (28 and 105)

A good walkaround lens

I bought this lens to replace the kit lens bundled with rebel xt. It has a longer zoom range, great for roaming in the city. It's pretty compact, though made of plastic, has a good solid feel, is a little heavier than what I expected. So far, I am...

Fast, quiet USM focusing

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

May be Canon's most under-rated lens.Especially when price is considered.Very quick,accurate focus.Much better overall than my neighbor's $600 17-85 IS.

Sharp Fast focus Light,compact....a steal for the $$(even moreso used).

It's not a L in optical quality.But it's as good as any Canon non-L

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

This lens is being used in our product for portrait work. It provides a good range of focal length with good image quality. Reliability has been reasonably good in that with over 30 lenses in use, we have had only 2 failures after taking approximately...

Good image quality. Relatively light weight

Over the past year we have had 2 lenses fail for unknown reasons. Lenses are used in a protected environment so impact is not a factor. Canon has repaired/replaced in all cases.
