Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens

The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens may reach as close to optical perfection as any Canon DSLR lens made as of review time.Combine top-of-the-line build quality, lightning-fast AF and image stabilization to this optical quality and you get one of...

Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM review

What price for perfection in a super-fast telephoto camera lens?

Spectacular optical performance ; Great build quality ; Super-fast and accurate autofocus ; Power Focus and Focus Preset modes ; Image Stabiliser lives up to 4-stop claims

A bit heavy for prolonged handheld use ; Expensive to buy

The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM is one of the latest telephoto and super-telephoto lenses to hit the market, or perhaps we should say to clobber it, given the size and weight of the 300mm and its even bigger 400mm brother.

Canon EF 300 mm f/2.8 L IS II USM

The Canon EF 300 mm f/2.8 L IS II USM, although it has the II Roman numeral in its name, is, in fact, the third generation of the EF 300 mm f/2.8 USM lens which was launched in 1987. In July 1999 a new version was shown, equipped with optical image...

Excellent build quality ; Brilliant image quality in the frame centre starting already from the maximum relative aperture ; Great image quality on the edge of the frame ; Chromatic aberration corrected perfectly ; Zero distortion ; Invisible coma ; Low...

Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM

This lens is so easy to use you can even hand hold in some instances instead of using a tripod or mono-pod. The picture quality as you would expect from a Canon lens in this price range is excellent. The price that was paid made this even better value....

Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM

Very fast AF even with 1.4x & 2.0x extenders. It's reasonably light and handheld performance is very good with 4 stops of IS, making it a portable lens.

A bit pricey, although it's possible to shop around and you get what you pay for.
