Great Lens for the price

This lens was a replacement for my kit lens. I'm more than happy with the lower apeture, and achieving a great balance for both indooor and out.

The lens is light, quiet, and is sharp. Very good lens for the price

Auto focus is a bit slow

Be careful

I bought a lens from Newegg in September and was very disappointed by quality. All the images were blurry and I had hard time getting a sharp image. When experimenting with a tripod I noticed that turning the stabilizer off made my lens take much...

Very sharp when adjusted

Seems to have very high level of defects

Canon 1242B002

If you need a good wide but need to maintain a certain level of zoom, get this lens, you will not regret it. I use nothing else for social events.

Magnificent lens, does the job for a good price. Sharp at most apertures, slightly soft at 2.8. Fast focus, very versatile

Will not work on full-frame sensors (5D, 1D). It will leave you wanting more if you expect to use it for fashion (runway) photography where you need a tele but that is NOT what this lens is for

Fantastic Lens

This lens does carry a high price tag for an EF-S design. However, you will not find an EF-S lens that performs better than this one. It is F/2.8 across the zoom range and this is invaluable for people that like taking photos using a shallow depth of...

Tack sharp, IQ is very good, extremely fast focus, F/2.8 at all zoom settings, very good build quality for a non-L lens, bokeh is very nice

Perfect for traveling light...

My HSN Rebel T3 camera came with two lenses. This lense is sort of between the extremes and makes it possible to travel a bit lighter without carrying everything and works as a "stand alone" lens with a range just that is intermediate, but perfect for...

Great lens...

A little heavy but worth it! I love that I only need 1 lens! The best!

A great walk-around lens

I have been debating for a long time whether I should go for EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS or EF 24-70 f2.8L. The EF-S 17-85 is a big no-no because of its poor optical performance. My major concern on 17-55 is that it only fits EF-S mount cameras, which means it...

Great optical performance (comparable to L series), wide open at f2.8 for background blur, IS is a huge plus

Price is too high, no lens hood included, zoom barrel not smooth enough, construction not as good as L series, fit only EF-S mount cameras

EF-S version of EF27-40L with IS -- the ultimate walk around lens for EOS DSLR.

The first thing you will notice is the sharpness of this baby. It's sharp @ f/2.8 through the range, and much sharper than EF17-40L through f/4-f8 especially in the corners. Amazingly it still holds its ground till f/16, that's nearly Macro lens...

Fast USM AF + f/2.8 + Bullet-proof IS = shooting in all kind of conditions without hassles/tripod/flash

Pricey, not dust/weather sealed, flare control could be better

Great lens!

The perfect lens for going wide back up to portrait range. This is truly an L lens, but not marketed that way for Canon's silly reasons. It's massive, but f/2.8 all the way through with IS is wonderful for wedding photography and landscapes.

Fantastic build quality - very fast focusing - Image Stabilization

lots of vignetting around 17-20mm

Product Specifications

With its effective focal length range of approximately 16-35mm in 35mm format, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is a remarkable lens with outstanding image quality that will take your photography into new dimensions and areas of dramatic expression. The super-wide zoom not only gives you the freedom to get exactly what you want in the shot, it dramatically alters perspective to allow for dynamic expression. The lens allows you to get extremely close to subjects, exaggerating the difference in size between a near object and its background. Creative photographers can use this phenomenon to create excellent separation between subject and background for a strong sense of presence, or for a pan-focus effect with everything from foreground to background sharply in focus. Exceptionally light and compact for its focal length range, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM also has an incredibly close minimum focusing distance of just 24cm. A ring-type USM works in concert with the camera to provide super-fast, precision auto focusing and predictive tracking - with full manual override available at any time. Designed specifically for digital photography, the lens has specially shaped lens elements and Super Spectra coatings to suppress ghosting and flare, which can be caused by reflections off digital camera sensors. An exclusive optional lens hood can further reduce the incidence of flare. A circular aperture provides a pleasing background blur when shooting with a wide aperture; ideal for creating a sense of depth and getting your subject or model to stand out from the background.
