Better than 70-200 mkii

I'm a fan of this lens. It's smaller and more compact than the 70-200 L and naturally it's sharper. It focuses fast and has great color. Can you say Bokeh? This lens just melts away the busiest of backgrounds. Just gooey, buttery, beautiful...

This lens is an amazing alternative to the 70-200, if not better than! It is SO sharp, so fast, lightweight, and produces truly stunning images. I am so happy about this purchase and would buy it over and over again.

Great Lens!

Fast lens and very sharp. This is a gem in the Canon line at the prices it can be had for. This lens works great for shooting baseball and football games for children. Line up on first base and you can capture great images of runners coming to first...

incredible lens!

2005-11-21 14:02:41 This is my first L lens. I am tired at the softness of my Canon 100-300mm USM lens and go for this one. It is incredibly sharp! The images produced by this lens simply blows me away. Besides, the bokeh, color and contrast are so...

sharp! sharp! sharp! quiet and super-fast focus, f/2.8, beautiful bokeh and color and contrast, solid build, lightweight and compact, black body

The best lens in my bag

Canon EF 200mm f=1:2.8 USM (for Canon EOS bodies) is the third but only "L" lens in my bag. For those who are unaware, "L" stands for Canon's pro lenses that comes with a red ring in the lens barrel. Previously I owned Canon 100-400 USM L IS lens...

Great lightweight lens for telephoto work, very good flare resistance, fast autofocus

What's not to like?

I rented this lens for a week as part of the seemingly never-ending learning process. I may end up passing on this lens ONLY because as it turns out, the focal length may not be what I truly need. The accuracy & speed of the focus mechanism, as...

focus accuracy & speed, colour saturation

Not as long as you might hope, but this isn't a super telephoto anyway
