Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F1.4 R

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F1.4 R is a fast, compact standard-angle lens for Fuji mirrorless cameras, but focus is a little slow and edges are on the soft side.

Sharp center. Uniform illumination. Wide aperture. Nominal distortion. Physical aperture ring.

Soft edges. A bit slow to focus. Electronic manual focus. Omits optical stabilization.

Conclusions An f/1.4 lens is always appealing for photographers who like to capture images in dim light or with a very shallow depth of field. The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F1.4 R hits those notes, and it delivers images that are crisp through most of...

Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4 Review

If you have an X-Pro1 , you need one. It's much better than any of the LEICA 35mm and 50mm SUMMILUX-M ASPH lenses for use on the Fuji.

Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R (Fujifilm) - Review / Test Report

As you may have noticed in the sample images section I enjoyed my time with Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R during a business trip to Japan. Technically it may not be a perfect lens but it is capable of delivering very nice results. The center quality is...

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35 mm f/1.4 R

At the beginning of January 2012 a new mirrorless system under the brand name of Fujifilm was presented on the market. As all other mirrorless systems (apart from the Leica M) are directed mainly at amateur photographers, Fuji adopted other tactics and...

solid and compact casing, fitting well the body of the camera ; excellent image quality in the frame centre ; sensibly corrected chromatic aberration ; slight distortion ; negligible astigmatism ; decent work against bright light

image quality near the maximum relative aperture on the edge of the frame should have been better ; noticeable longitudinal chromatic aberration ; distinct coma ; huge vignetting ; not very accurate autofocus

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R

This standard lens for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera provides a field of view equivalent to a 51mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £550.

Extremely sharp in the centre when stopped down; Very good sharpness towards the edges when stopped down; Very Lightweight; Traditional design; Excellent build

Auto focus is a little on the slow side; Can be tricky to get accurate focus at wide apertures

With a field of view similar to the classic 50mm standard on a 35mm camera, this lens will already be on many X-Pro1 buyer's shopping lists. With this lenses ability to deliver extremely sharp images, it should win many fans amongst users of this new...
