Nikon Gegenlichtblende HB 33

I purchased this just to add some physical protection to the front element of the lens. The hood is so shallow it doesn't really make any difference, and other than that it is really not needed on an 18-55mm kit lens. If you want to protect your lens...

Beware of buying this product from CameraKing. They charged me almost £5 for postage, but the package has £1.57 stamped on it. Is this legal? You'd be better off buying from Hong Kong via ebay.

Maybe I was expecting more, but this little thing is only 2.1cm deep (9/10"). I clips nicely onto the outside of my 18-55mm lens, but really does not look like much of a hood ... At all. I opened the box expecting it to be some kind of folding or...
