Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED

The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED is a fast wide-angle lens for Nikon SLRs, but it's expensive.

Wide f/1.4 maximum aperture. Captures crisp images. 9.8-inch close focus. Full-frame coverage.

Dim corners at wide aperture. Edge softness at f/1.4. Shows some barrel distortion. Not stabilized. Pricey.

Conclusions The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED carries a premium price tag, but that's not out of the question for an f/1.4 wide-angle prime lens. It isn't the absolute sharpest lens at f/1.4, but when stopped down just a bit it improves noticeably,...

Nikon 24mm f/1.4 review

Nikon's fast, professional wideangle lens is expensive but worth it

Superb image quality ; Build quality and weather sealing ; Nano Crystal coating

Expensive ; Barrel distortion slightly above average ; Depth of field scale could be clearer

The image quality is absolutely excellent and fully in keeping with the lens's professional-grade build and high asking price.

Nikon Nikkor AF-S 24 mm f/1.4G ED

When it comes to wide-angle full frame f/1.4 lenses Leica is a real record holder as it has had the Summilux-M 21 mm f/1.4 in its lineup since September 2008. The next complexity level is occupied by a 1.4/24 model, with the field of view of as many as...

high build quality ; very good resolution in the frame centre ; good resolution on the edge of the APS-C sensor ; chromatic aberration controlled well ; moderate distortion ; slight vignetting on the DX sensor ; well-corrected astigmatism ; fast,...

significant spherical aberration and focus-shift, connected to it ; high coma ; average work against bright light ; too high vignetting on full frame

Nikkor AF-S 24mm f/1.4 G ED (DX) - Review / Lab Test Report

The Nikkor AF-S 24 f/1.4 is an impressive lens. At large apertures it produces very sharp images in the image center with somewhat soft corners wide open, but stopped down it shows very good to excellent sharpness across the whole (DX) frame....

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED review

A wide angle lens with a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4 should be of interest to those who like shooting by available light as the brightness fades, or indoors.

Excellent optical quality; Fast focusing; Superb build quality

Pricey
