I would buy this product again and again

This lens is by far a must have for the photographer who wants to get UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL. Not only get close, but to add extreme depth of field effects to you photographs.

Great wildlife lens

I have been using an 80-400VR and wanted a bit more reach and more sharpness.

Very fast. Extremely sharp. Great contrast. CA is very low

Needs skill to use. I'm doing better than I thought without VR

Nikon 500mm f/4D IF-ED AF-S II Nikkor

Light in weight - Very fast and positive focusing - Sharp from edge to edge - Color rendition is amazing.

I wish it let in 1 more stop of light....but then it would not be as light and would cost more.

Nikon 500mm f/4.0 P ED-IF Nikkor AI-S

This will be a short one: I can endorse almost all the preceding reviewer said, being in a very similar situation. Haven't found any issues yet with the tripod collar and I find the frontward located focusing ring very practical. With a 1.4 Kenko TC...

Useable with all recent Nikon camera bodies Very sharp(as one would expect) Faithful colour rendition Relatively lightweight and fairly easy to carry

Noticeable vignetting up to f/6.7 even on APS-C format sensors, that's why I cannot give it a 5/5 rating

Nikon 500mm f/8.0 Reflex Nikkor AI-S

I originally purchased this lens for film, and I loved it then. I now mount it on my D70 and love it even more because I now have the power to correct exposure mistakes. I set the D70 on M, keep the shutter speed at least 250, and then make any...

Sharp optics. Portable. A great "gotcha" lens.

Sometimes the ring blur is a bit distracting. Sometimes F8 just isn't fast enough for handheld shots.

Nikon 500mm f/4.0 P ED-IF Nikkor AI-S

The 500mm F4 P lens is a great way to get the advantages of a long lens without excessive cost or weight. The manual focus version is relatively light and quite sharp. Since the lens has a matrix chip, all metering modes are usable. The only thing you...

Very sharp * Relatively light for hikers * Great price/performance ratio

Focus ring at far end of lens barrel * Wimpy tripod mounting foot

Nikon 500mm f/8.0 Reflex Nikkor AI-S

This is a terrific longish tele lens if you do not mind the f 8 constant setting. Use it to shoot motorsports and have gotten terrific results.

Light weight, Sharp. Low cost in comparison to the 500 F4 or 600 F4

Slow but hey it is a mirror lens
