Nikon 50mm f/1.4 D AF Review Round-Up

Similar to its cousin (AF 50mm f/1.8 D) the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.4 D is a very good performer. At f/1.4 the contrast is a little on the low side and the borders may be a little soft but from f/2.8 & up the performance is really superb. Distortions are...

Nikon 50mm 1.8 AFD lens

Amazing quality at this price - find out why this tiny little plastic lens is one of our editor's favourites.

Amazing sharpness in a small compact lens. Fast aperture for low light shooting.

For a pro lens this is slightly plasticky

Superb Replacement of the KIT lens

KIT lenses do not do the cameras that they come with justice. This is the equivalent of 75mm on a crop sensor if you aren't using a full frame camera. Fantastic for indoor shots/portraits of any kind.

Fast auto focusing ; Excellent Bokeh ; Fantastic Image Quality, much better than KIT lens ; Great low light performance coupled with current generation Nikon cameras

Twice the price of the equivalent Canon model. But I chose a Nikon camera for a reason, so that's ok

That\'s why it\'s called the standard lens

Great for available light, fast focus & sharp. Don\'t have to use distracting flash for most indoor people shots. It is also a great "walk-about" lens; small and light. Also takes 52mm filters.

Perfectly Suited To My Nikon D700

With the new Nikon D3 and D700 FX cameras, this classic 50mm lens is poised to make a big comeback. There are so many photographic possibilities using a small, fast single focal length lens rather than a heavy, slow and expensive zoom. Based on its...
