The Nikon 70-200 mm 2.8, written in full as AF-S Nikkor 70-200/2.8G ED VRII, is put on the market in 2010 to substitute the first VR version. That was necessary, because this version performed, mainly with 200 mm, insufficiently with cameras equipped...

High center sharpness ; Nice bokeh ; Low chromatic aberration ; No troubles of ghosting at backlight ; Durable construction

Resolution at full aperture is somewhat disappointing ; Much glare at full aperture ; At the minimal focus, the maximal focal length is not 200 mm but 140 mm ; Small lens hood

The Nikon 70-200 mm 2.8 VRII is big, heavy and rather pricy. However, for that high purchase price, you get much in return. The resolution is high at many diaphragm - zoom distance combinations, and the sensitivity to side images at backlight is low....
