Lens Review: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR

A well-regarded telephoto zoom lens gets a much-needed update, making it sharper and more stable.

Excellent upgraded image stabilization; exceptional optical performance through much of its zoom range; smooth, accurate focusing; solid, weather-sealed build

Steep launch price tag

Nikon 80-200mm f/4 AI-S Review Round-Up

This is the best manual focus telephoto zoom for Nikon. Of course if you can find one of the huge (95 mm filter) manual focus 80 - 200mm f/2.8s don't let me stop you, but for my bag I'd get one of these if I wanted a manual focus tele zoom. … READ FULL...

Nikon 80-400 AF Zoom Lens

First, the good news: An 80 to 400 zoom is a wonderful idea. The fact that it is well balanced, lightweight, and sharp adds to the fun. Put it on the digital D1 and we are talking about a 120mm to 600mm zoom-now that's impressive!

Best lens I have purchased

I use this lens, mainly handheld for wildlife photography I am only 8 stone and 5ft but find it comfortable to use on my D7100 and get beautiful sharp images. There is nothing that I don't like about this lens. My best purchase ever

Great Lens for what it was made to do

Love this lens. Much faster than the D lens. This G lens seems to be a little sharper and definitely faster in focusing. Great for either tripod or hand held. Used it at an airshow hand held and worked great. Just a bit heavy, but easy to handle. The...

Great moderate to long lens

With a 5x zoom and generally sharp overall this lens is an improvement over the previous model. Works with all digital cameras and the newest model film cameras 35mm.

Great range but bigger & heavier than expected

A brilliant lens with a great range, even more so on DX. It's bigger than I expected but not surprising given the quality it is, significantly larger than my Nikon 70-300 VR lens. The VR II on the 80-400 is a step above anything I've tried, no problems...
