a lemon and what a lens to get a lemon with:(

should be a great lens but is not

on my new D800 this lens sucks awful. On my D300s was ok but on FX have found the edges to be seriously unsharp. It also won't focus sharply at f2.8. Compared to my friends 14-24 his is absolutely pin sharp so well unhappy

Buy this for every DX and FX camera. Used to have a Sigma 8-16 for DX. At a 3rd of the cost, 1/4 of the performance.

Optical performance absolute unsurpassed

One walks more carefully when carrying this monster ready to shoot. That is with the hood off, exposing the front glass

dreaming of Canon may design something like this, meanwhile, the best value for your money

Amazing resolution, much better than any prime from Leica or Zeiss, and of course Canon or Nikon

I use it on Canon EOS 5D mkII. The main cons is the lack of autofocus and automatism on the diafragm due the adaptor, but this is my choice.Lens design does not permit the use of filters

If your thing is landscape photography don't let the filter issue deter you from buying this lens. You will appreciate the freedom that the quality of images taken with this lens even right into the corners wide open produces. This to me outways being...

Outstanding optical quality at all focal lengths, very minimal distortion, excellent build quality

Exposed large front element

Simply stunning. High price, but value is just as high.

Sharp over the whole picture, even wide open. Vignetting is moderate and distortion, esp. around 14mm, easily corrected (using DxO for instance). Not very sensitive to flare. Good handling, despite it being bulky

On FX : none

No Comparisson to the Zuiko 7-14mm.

No comparable angle of view on a Nikon or Canon

Inacceptable vignetting at maximum aperture

no other lens matches its performance and the price is actually pretty good when you consider that the Canon 14mm prime alone costs more

truly amazing quality for an ultra wide angle zoom

cannot take filters

I would put the size and weight into "cons" section but I know you can not trick physics. And... I like its macho look :-)

It is a crime to stop this lens down. It is designed to shoot @2.8

The best wide angle zoom full stop. No need for primes in this range so long as weight is not a problem. And I seem to be able to get away with not using filters so far..

Super sharp at all focal lengths and apertures, with superb build quality. Creates stunning wide angle shots on full frame cameras with rich colours. Resists flare quite well

Heavy & Bulky (for me anyway)Can't use filters
