If you need performance at f/2, get it. If you can live with f/4, one of the pro-quality zooms (Tokina 16-28; Nikon 14-24) is less expensive and will do just as well.

In poor light. nothing really competes with this lens at this width on f-mount. It's this, or it's nothing. Does handle wide apertures pretty well

PriceSerious coma issuesCan focus shift, but at this width that's not so serious

an incredible lens, but suffers badly from focus shift, which is unacceptable at that price level.

amazing contrast, sharpness, bokeh. No problem with flares, unlike the 14-24

disturbing focus shift... this is clearly the biggest problem with that lens, which is otherwise incredible. Focus shift makes AF-tune useless

The most awesome focal length for FX landscapes, and the next most awesome on DX (1.5x 24mm =36mm) . I doubt anything better will be made in the next 50 years.

Optical quality at all apertures (sharpness, colour rendition, bokeh, resistance to flare). Lightweight. Perfect for night lanscapes and astrophotography. Really good on DX for pet photos

Price. 1800 euros, really. Oww, hurts

It's as sharp at f/1.4 as my 17-35 is at f/5.6! And the bokeh is excellent for such a wide angle optic. The AF is almost completely inaudible, and although not as fast as my f/2.8 zooms', it makes up for it in focus accuracy. Bottom line, if you're a...

sharp wide open, nice bokeh, close focus

pricey but worth it

Here's a direct comparison of the Canon 24 1.4L II against the 24 1.4G (both on a 5D Mk II):http://www.flickr.com/photos/genotypewriter/4698284415/The price of this lens is way too much considering its performance relative to the Canon equivalent. I...

Bokeh, good center image quality

Corner resolution compared to Canon 24 1.4L II, price, build is not so solid
