Olympus M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f2.8 PRO

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f2.8 PRO is the perfect telezoom for Olympus Micro Four Thirds shooters, even though Panasonic owners will be turned off by its lack of in-lens stabilization.

Edge-to-edge sharpness throughout zoom range. No distortion. Protected from cold, dust, and splashes. Excellent close focus capability. Innovative collapsible hood. Manual focus clutch system. Includes tripod collar.

Pricey. Lack of optical stabilization an issue for Panasonic Micro Four Thirds shooters.

We don't hand 5-star ratings out haphazardly. The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f2.8 PRO earns our highest recommendation and Editors' Choice award because it's an amazing lens without any real flaws. Panasonic shooters would love to have a version...

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40‑150mm 1:2.8 Pro review

Fast and long, it's a sporty number

Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture ; Excellent zoom range

Faint loss of sharpness at 300mm ; Not completely silent

Regular 'consumer' zoom lenses have a variable maximum aperture, but pros demand a constant f/2.8 lens with consisting top-drawer performance – and Olympus has produced exactly that.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews this bright f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO.

Excellent sharpness, especially when stopped down a little ; Relatively compact and lightweight ; Robust build ; Dust and splash proof ; Quick access for manual focus ; Good value ; Fast focusing

Manual focus control easily nudged ; May be a little large for many MFT bodies ; Sharpness could be better towards the edges of the frame at 40mm

The combination of great build quality and performance alone are enough to recommend this lens. The fact that it offers a unique zoom range, whilst maintaining a fast f/2.8 throughout is even better. It's capable of delivering excellent image quality...

Stunning lens

Wonderfully sharp lens. No detectable fall-off with the extender fitted. Fast quiet focussing. It is a serious lump of glass - much lighter than any full-frame equivalent but still very solidly built and easy to handle. Haven't used the tripod collar...

Brilliant lens in all aspects. Two outstanding things you won't find in many or maybe even any other lenses are the ability to shoot as close and the unique lens hood that saves time every time you use the lens. Both features help make this a very...
